Grocery Manager

Full-Time $21.50 - $26.50 Grocery Manager Perform and oversee work in the areas of:

• Plan, direct, and coordinate daily operations of the Grocery Department
• Meet sales, gross, and labor goals
• Department scheduling and time card approval
• Staff recruitment, orientation, and training
• Workplace safety
• Basic maintenance and repairs These tasks are important to the company because they promote Chester's mission, customer satisfaction, employee happiness, successful vendor relations, and company profitability. Although many Essential Functions are performed according to established procedures, independent decisions will have to be made. Essential Job Functions
• Oversee activities directly relating to customer service and the customer experience
• Direct and coordinate activities of department production, pricing, and sales
• Review performance data and assess goal achievement to determine areas needing improvement
• Managing staff, overseeing work schedules, and assigning specific duties
• Establish and implement departmental policies, goals, objectives, and procedures
• Communicating issues with subordinates and superiors as necessary
• Determine staffing requirements, interview, hire and oversee training of new employees
• Work with other managers in planning and directing promotional activities
• Oversee workplace safety in the Grocery Department
• Knowledge of departmental mechanical systems, monitoring, and basic maintenance of equipment Nonessential Job Functions
• Regularly attend or participate in large community activities
• Participate in nearly all store events Requirements
• Previous Department Manager, Supervisor, or equivalent experience
• Ability to pass a background check as described in the Safe Hiring Plan
• Intermediate knowledge and experience with computer systems
• Experience using office suites in a business setting, or equivalent education
• Ability to follow written instructions exactly
• Comfort performing monetary transactions
• Ability to communicate clearly with employees, customers, and vendors

• Ability to sit and use a computer for a period of 2 hours
• Ability to occasionally lift up to 40 pound
• Ability to stand, walk, and crouch continuously for 8 hours
• Ability to continuously lift 20 pounds
