Job Description

Position Summary The Big Canoe POA Grounds and Landscaping Supervisor is responsible for assisting with the daily management and operation of grounds maintenance and landscaping activities throughout the property. This position combines supervisory responsibilities with hands-on field work, including landscape maintenance, semi-skilled grounds construction, equipment operation, and employee oversight. The Supervisor ensures work is completed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with department standards. Essential Functions and Responsibilities Perform the duties of the Grounds and Landscaping Manager in their absence. Supervise and work alongside employees in the field to ensure tasks are completed safely, effectively, and in a timely manner. Assist with daily operations, production management, scheduling, future planning, customer service, and quality control. Plan, organize, and direct the activities of assigned staff. Ensure employees adhere to company policies, procedures, and safety regulations. Assist in training, mentoring, and developing new employees. Operate mowers, loaders, tractors, hand-powered equipment, and other landscaping machinery safely and effectively. Perform equipment operation and field work as needed. Report potential safety hazards and maintenance concerns within the community to management. Report equipment malfunctions, maintenance needs, or failures to the appropriate supervisor. Assist with chemical applications under the supervision of the Grounds and Landscaping Manager and in accordance with applicable regulations. Read and interpret landscape designs, sketches, layouts, and specifications. Implement proper landscape installation and maintenance practices. Apply fertilizers to turf, plants, shrubs, and landscaped areas. Qualifications and Skills Knowledge of turfgrass management, ornamental plant care, weed control, and landscape design principles. Strong problem-solving skills related to turf, plant health, irrigation, and wildlife issues throughout the property. Demonstrated leadership, organizational, and decision-making abilities. Minimum of three (3) years of experience in the landscaping or green industry. Valid driver's license with a clean Motor Vehicle Record (MVR). High school diploma or equivalent required; a two-year degree in horticulture, landscape management, or a related field is preferred. Working knowledge of grounds and landscape construction and maintenance methods, materials, and equipment. Ability to safely operate landscaping equipment, including mowers, loaders, tractors, and hand-powered tools. Ability to follow oral and written instructions. Strong customer service and communication skills. Ability to perform strenuous physical labor, including heavy lifting and extended periods of walking and standing. Special Position Requirements Valid driver's license with a clean Motor Vehicle Record (MVR). Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions and environmental elements. Physical Requirements and Work Environment Requires extensive physical activity, including strenuous work, heavy lifting, prolonged standing, walking, bending, and operating equipment. Regular exposure to outdoor environmental conditions, including extreme temperatures, dirt, dust, fumes, and inclement weather. Exposure to high and constant noise levels from equipment and machinery. Must be authorized to work in the US. Must be able to pass a background check and drug test. Pay:
$55,000.00 - $60,000.00 per year
