  • Full-time Position Summary EPSI is seeking an experienced and motivated Grounds Manager to oversee commercial grounds maintenance operations across multiple properties from San Marcos to North Austin.
This position is responsible for leading field operations, supervising crews, maintaining quality standards, coordinating preventive maintenance programs, and ensuring all work is completed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with contract requirements. The ideal candidate will be a hands-on leader with strong operational experience in commercial landscaping and grounds maintenance, excellent communication skills, and a commitment to delivering exceptional service and customer satisfaction. This role requires the ability to manage multiple crews and priorities in a fast-paced environment while maintaining accountability, professionalism, and operational excellence. Key Responsibilities Operations & Crew Management Supervise and coordinate daily grounds maintenance operations across multiple commercial properties and contracts. Lead, train, coach, and mentor grounds crews while promoting a respectful, professional, and safety-focused work environment. Ensure all services are completed according to contract specifications, schedules, Statements of Work, and company quality standards. Organize, equip, and dispatch crews daily to ensure operational readiness and productivity. Schedule and prioritize work assignments based on property needs, operational demands, and weather conditions. Support startup operations, special projects, and preventive maintenance programs as needed. Grounds Maintenance & Field Oversight Oversee landscape maintenance activities including mowing, edging, trimming, pruning, mulching, weed control, shrub and bush maintenance, seasonal cleanup, and debris removal. Monitor irrigation systems and identify repair or maintenance needs. Operate and oversee the safe use of landscaping equipment, tools, trailers, tractors, mowers, weed eaters, blowers, hedge trimmers, and company vehicles. Utilize knowledge of native Texas plants, trees, turf, soils, and landscaping practices to support crews and maintain property appearance standards. Conduct routine quality control inspections and implement corrective actions as needed. Safety & Compliance Ensure compliance with OSHA standards, company safety policies, and customer requirements. Conduct safety meetings, inspections, and ongoing safety training. Investigate accidents, incidents, and safety concerns and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence. Monitor recurring hazards and develop proactive safety improvement plans. Maintain safe and organized work areas, vehicles, equipment, storage areas, and customer properties. Customer & Administrative Responsibilities Maintain strong professional relationships with customers, vendors, property managers, and internal leadership teams. Communicate operational updates, service concerns, project progress, and scheduling changes effectively. Complete reports, inspections, work logs, timesheets, and operational documentation accurately and on time. Maintain inventory accountability for equipment, tools, supplies, fuel usage, and materials. Assist leadership with evaluating new contract opportunities, operational improvements, and workforce planning. Qualifications & Requirements Minimum of 5 years of experience managing commercial grounds or landscaping operations. Minimum of 5 years of leadership experience supervising field crews and operations. Strong knowledge of commercial landscaping equipment, irrigation systems, turf management, pruning, and preventive maintenance practices. Experience operating commercial landscaping equipment including mowers, tractors, weed eaters, blowers, hedge trimmers, trailers, and utility equipment. Strong understanding of native Texas landscaping, plants, trees, and grounds maintenance practices. Excellent organizational, leadership, and problem-solving skills. Ability to multitask and perform effectively in a fast-paced operational environment. Strong verbal and written communication skills. Proficiency using computers, tablets, smartphones, Microsoft Office, and operational reporting systems. Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions and lift up to 50 pounds. Valid driver's license with clean driving record. Ability to pass background screening and E-Verify requirements. Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred but not required. Preferred Qualifications Experience managing municipal, government, educational, healthcare, industrial, or corporate campus properties. Irrigation certification, landscaping certifications, OSHA training, or related industry certifications preferred. Basic mechanical troubleshooting and preventive maintenance experience for landscaping equipment and fleet assets. Experience managing multiple contracts and geographically dispersed crews. Work Environment This position requires both field and administrative responsibilities and involves outdoor work throughout Central Texas in varying weather conditions, including heat, rain, and seasonal changes. The Grounds Manager will routinely travel between multiple locations and supervise crews across active customer sites. Compensation & Benefits Salary Range $65,000
