This position serves as the early childhood coach for the GSRP Preschool program. This role would provide assistance in the operation and administration of the program following State of Michigan guidelines. Would be responsible to work with staff to support the implementation of best practices for establishing program content and coordinating with Building(s), District, BAISD, and State initiatives. This would include program areas such as assessments, curriculum, parent engagement, and the program improvement plans.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Other duties may be assigned. Facilitates learning either one-on-one or group settings utilizing MDE Standards, HIGHSCOPE, Screening tools, TS GOLD, and Essential Practices. Provide skill development and mentoring to staff progressing in their position by performing on the job modeling and assistance as well as mentoring specific skills. Providing ongoing quality assistance to address children's challenging behaviors and sensory needs. Supports the professional development of all staff by delivering coaching assistance. Maintains content development expertise and disseminates such knowledge by providing ongoing quality assistance to staff. Promotes continuous quality improvement and quality assurance efforts for the program. Participates in site visits, classroom observations, and work groups to assess program needs and planning strategies for program improvement and/or development of early childhood education, disabilities, and mental health. Provides guidance and support to GSRP staff with implementation of curriculum and ongoing assessments. Works cooperatively with other agencies to meet the needs of families and children served in program. Organize and create a parent advisory committee(s). Plan, support and guide parent engagement activities. Assist in the ongoing program evaluation using the Program Quality Assessment (PQA.) Assist in daily operation of the program including certain clerical and record keeping duties for enrollment. Follow and implement the policies and procedures of the Great Start Readiness Program Grant and Department of Human Services Licensing Guidelines. Work with additional building staff (i.e. principal, secretary, custodian, food services) to ensure policies and procedures are being followed. Interact with the children and families in a way which conveys respect and nurturing. Demonstrate behavior that is professional, ethical, and responsible.QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

Must be willing and able to obtain First Aid and CPR Certification and maintain annual certification. Annually attend; Blood Borne Pathogen Class and Nonviolent Crisis Intervention Course. Have acceptable tuberculosis results. A clear criminal record check as outlined by District, Program, and Licensing guidelines. Complete the required annual amount of hours of training provided in and outside of the program. EDUCATION and/orEXPERIENCE
A valid Michigan teaching certificate with an Early Childhood Endorsement (ZA) or (ZS). OR Bachelor's Degree in Early Childhood Education/Child Development with a specialization in preschool teaching. The transcript will document a major in child development. Four or more years of working with preschool children. Experience working with persons from diverse cultural and economic backgrounds. Proven credibility with peers. A teaching/learning philosophy compatible with district vision. Demonstrates knowledge and understanding of curriculum planning. Displays strong problem solving skills as well as time management skills.CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret professional journals, technical procedure, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of administrators, staff, students, parents and the general public.MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry. Ability to access, interpret, and display achievement data.REASONING ABILITY
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Ability to apply knowledge of current research and theory to instructional program; ability to plan and present lessons based on school objectives and the needs and abilities of students to whom assigned. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, peers, school staff and parents; skills in oral and written communication.PHYSICAL DEMANDS

The position requires the individual to sometimes work irregular or extended work hours and meet multiple demands from several people. Must be able to lift or carry a child weighing up to 50 pounds away from a potentially dangerous situation during an emergency that may/may not include an evacuation.WORK ENVIRONMENT
