We support the entire lower/mid Westchester community by offering outstanding human services, educational, cultural, and recreational, and fitness programs within and beyond our walls. Our goal at JCCMW Gymnastics is to provide a safe and fun environment for our participants within a framework of positive reinforcement and encouragement! We strive to provide the most positive experience possible for everyone involved. Our staff has a deep passion for the sport of gymnastics and we love passing it on to the next generation of young gymnasts. We love teaching fundamental skills and progressions while providing knowledge of the sport and supporting the athletes in gaining self-confidence and achieving their goals. The successful candidate will report to the Director of Gymnastics and provide instruction within the Gymnastics Department. This will include sharing the vision for our USAG competitive curriculums and competitions, learning and teaching routines, constructing lesson plans per level and group, following Director's lead for all practices, evaluating gymnasts throughout the year. This is a part-time role (up to 30 hours per week). The successful candidate will be available to work 2-6 days per week including weekends for practice and competition.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Teach 1-3 hour sessions
- Coach USAG Development Program and Xcel Program Levels
- Work with children of all ages, primarily ages 5-16
- Use positive and constructive communication
- Creatively incorporate curriculum into the lesson plans and submit evaluations per session
- Actively engage during activities or events with gymnasts
- Work collaboratively with other instructors to maintain order and participation during sessions
- Attend monthly meetings and development trainings
- Attend sanctioned competitive events on weekends
- Encourage a positive environment promoting mutual support and the desire to learn and grow Education and/or
Work Experience Requirements:
- Must be at least 18 years of age
- Must hold the following certifications (may be done after hire): o USA Gymnastics Competitive Coach o U100: Fundamentals of Gymnastics Instruction o U101: Safety & Risk Management ○ U110: Safe Sport o U112: Tough Coaching or Emotional Abuse o U113: Safe Sport Policy ○ U201: Concussion Acknowledgement ○ CPR/AED (recommended)
- Time management and organizational skills
- Three years of previous experience with pre-school, school-age and competitive gymnastics
- Exhibits an energetic, professional, and courteous demeanor at all times
