Key Responsibilities Consult with clients to determine desired looks and hair care needs Provide hair cutting, coloring, highlighting, styling, and chemical services Shampoo, condition, and treat hair as needed Recommend hair care products and styling techniques Maintain a clean, sanitary workstation and tools Follow all safety, hygiene, and state cosmetology regulations Schedule appointments and manage time efficiently Build and maintain strong client relationships Stay up to date on current trends, styles, and techniques Assist with retail sales of hair products when appropriate Qualifications Valid state cosmetology license Proven experience as a hair stylist or completion of an accredited cosmetology program Strong knowledge of hair care, products, and styling tools Excellent communication and customer service skills Professional appearance and demeanor Ability to stand for long periods and perform repetitive hand movements Skills & Abilities Precision cutting and styling Color application and correction Trend awareness Time management Creativity and attention to detail Sales and client retention Work Environment Hair stylists work in a salon setting that may include standing for long hours, exposure to chemicals, and frequent interaction with clients.
