North Middlesex Regional High School is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Head Cheerleading Coach to lead the sideline and competitive cheerleading team. The ideal candidate will demonstrate a passion for student development, spirit leadership, and competitive excellence. This role requires a coach who can build a supportive and structured environment focused on safety, team culture, skill development, and academic balance.The Head Cheerleading Coach will manage all aspects of the cheer program, including coordinating with school administrators, overseeing practices and performances, choreographing routines, and ensuring all safety protocols are met. The coach will serve as a role model who promotes teamwork, discipline, sportsmanship, and school spirit while aligning with the schools mission for education-based athletics.
Key Responsibilities:
Sideline Spirit Leadership:
Coordinate and lead cheer performances at all home football and basketball games.Work with the athletic department, band, and student groups to promote school spirit and positive game-day experiences.
Create appropriate and enthusiastic cheers, chants, and sideline routines.
Competitive Cheerleading Program Oversight:
Design and choreograph competitive cheer routines that meet MIAA standards.Organize and lead tryouts, practices, and competition participation.
Prepare athletes mentally and physically for regional and state competitions.
Athlete Development & Safety:
Teach proper stunting, tumbling, and choreography techniques in a safe and structured environment.Ensure all practices follow NFHS and MIAA safety guidelines, including proper progression and spotting techniques.
Maintain up-to-date knowledge of concussion prevention, injury protocols, and emergency procedures.
Team Culture & Leadership:
Promote a team environment built on respect, responsibility, inclusion, and sportsmanship.Serve as a mentor to student-athletes, emphasizing confidence, self-discipline, and personal growth.
Encourage leadership opportunities within the team through captains and peer mentoring.
Academic Support & Balance:
Support the academic success of all cheerleaders and monitor eligibility requirements.Communicate regularly with teachers, staff, and families about student progress.
Program Management & Communication:
Collaborate with the Athletic Director and school administrators on scheduling, equipment needs, and budgets.Communicate clearly and consistently with parents and guardians regarding expectations, events, and safety.
Oversee fundraising, team apparel, and travel logistics when needed.

Guidelines:
Maintain current certifications in: NFHS Fundamentals of CoachingConcussion in SportsFirst Aid & CPRCheerleading-specific safety training (e.g., AACCA/USA Cheer preferred)MIAA Coaching Education ProgramBackground Checks (CORI/SORI)Qualifications:
Required Qualifications:
Previous cheerleading coaching experience at the high school or all-star/competitive level.Strong knowledge of sideline and competitive cheer skills, stunting techniques, safety, and choreography.
Excellent communication and team-building skills.
Demonstrated ability to lead a team with energy, integrity, and professionalism.
Must meet all NFHS and MIAA coaching requirements listed above.
Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelors degree in education, sports management, or a related field.Certification from a recognized cheerleading safety organization (e.g., AACCA/USA Cheer).Experience with competition rules, scoring systems, and routine composition.
Experience working with diverse student populations and promoting inclusivity in athletics.
Salary:
Per NMRSD Teacher Contract.Application Instructions:
