Job Summary:
The Head Coach is responsible for overseeing all aspects of their athletic program. This role is essential in cultivating a positive and unified team culture among players, parents, and assistant coaches. The Head Coach ensures a successful and meaningful season through a strong commitment to coaching excellence, program leadership, and professional conduct.Job Responsibilities:
Coaching Expertise Develops a firm foundation for all aspects of the program through the implementation of Biblically based Enduring Understandings and Essential Questions intentionally communicated in regular devotions and affirmed in teachable moments. Develops and delivers high-quality, well-structured instruction through a comprehensive seasonal scope and sequence, aligned practice plans, and intentional competition planning with post-competition analysis. Helps foster unity of purpose between all program coaches. Develops a positive mentoring relationship with players. Maintains a positive relationship with parents. Disciplines players appropriately. Develops appropriate summer and off-season activities that fit within the overall goals of the program. Provides locker room and bus supervision athletes. Ensures the safety of the athletes during practices and games. Handles injury situations in an appropriate manner. Program Leadership Work with the Athletic Director to develop financial, spiritual, athletic, and academic goals for your program. Attend pre-season and post-season meetings with Athletic Director as well as provide weekly logistical communications as needed. Assist with the hiring of all paid and volunteer assistant coaches and their coaching eligibility. Order, disperse, track, maintain and store all program equipment and uniforms. Submit all rosters, worksheets, and inventories to the Athletic Office in a timely manner. Follow NWCS procedures regarding budgetary purchasing and ordering. Collaborate with the Athletic Director and Business Office to maintain a Team Fund account serving as the depository for all team fundraising activities. Plan, schedule, and facilitate preseason parent meetings, Senior Night activities, and awards events in coordination with the Athletic Department. Develop a facility setup and maintenance plan in collaboration with the Athletic Department. Understand and enforce Athletic Department policies and procedures related to athlete eligibility. Coordinate postseason travel plans and logistics in conjunction with the Athletic Department. Partner with the Athletic Director to support youth, junior high, and high school summer camps and program opportunities. Professional Conduct Displays appropriate conduct during games and practices. Interacts respectfully and appropriately with game officials and opposing coaches and players. Maintains positive appearance, manners, behavior, and language at all times. Conducts personal life in a manner consistent with NWC values and expectations. Arrives on time and prepared for all practices and games. Maintains required WIAA certifications, including continuing education clock hours and current CPR/First Aid training. Attends school, league, district, and state meetings as required. Adheres to all school, league, and WIAA policies, procedures, and rules.Compensation:
Stipend of $4,000Requirements:
Minimum Qualifications, Skills, and Competencies:
Prior coaching experience and proven ability to teach and motivate athletes. Possess a First Aid/CPR certification or willingness to obtain. Model a life of personal commitment to Jesus Christ by exemplifying a lifestyle that honors God and actively participating in a local, Bible-believing church. Must be willing to affirm and abide by the Schools' Statement of Faith. Strong interpersonal communication skills with students, faculty, staff, and the community. Coaching expertise/knowledge of sport, motivation, strategies, and tactics and ability to supervise assistant coaches and volunteers. Organized and able to effectively monitor multiple student-athletes and activities simultaneously.Physical Requirements:
Ability to stand and walk for extended periods during practices, games, and events as well as demonstrate and model sport-specific skills, drills, and techniques as needed. Ability to lift, carry, push, and/or pull equipment and supplies weighing up to 25-50 pounds. Ability to work outdoors in a variety of weather conditions, including heat, cold, rain, and wind, depending on the sport and season.
