Head Lifeguard

Headguard/Deck Supervisor Responsibilities and qualifications

• Minimum of 17 years of age (work permit for minors under 18 years of age must be completed)
• Excellent communication and organizational skills
• High energy
• Strong work ethic
• Must pass background examinations prior to training
• Provide positive reinforcement, care and thoughtfulness to guests and other staff members
• Swimming experience not required but preferred
• Must obtain CPR/AED and First aid certification
• Strong, capable and confident swimmer
• Able to remove GID and provide emergency care
• Works well under pressure
• Red Cross certified
• Maintains active surveillance of the pool area
• Able to lead staff members when necessary
• Ability to work with children
• Communicate to parents on swimmers progress
• Provides leadership, discipline and positive feedback to swim instructors and lifeguards
• Evaluates instructors and lifeguards on performance
• Reports to Assistant Recreation Director Requirements
• Availability to work Monday through Sunday
• Physical ability to swim, walk, sit, and scan pool area in high temperatures
• Ability to work as a team
• Attends monthly in-service
• Clean, organize and complete other duties while off stand or between lessons
• Assist swim instructors with children if necessary
• Ensuring safety of all children assigned to swim class
• Ensure children reach parents entirely before re-entering pool
• Set up and tear down of any aquatic equipment used for swim lessons
• Arrives 20-30 minutes prior to start of swim lessons
• $16•$17
