Symrise - always inspiring more… About the role Position Summary The Head of Indirect Procurement NA will lead regional indirect procurement strategy and execution across North America. This role will focus primarily on operations-related spend categories that support manufacturing and site operations, including MRO, facilities management, packaging, energy and utilities, logistics, and other operational services. The role will also partner closely with global category counterparts to manage professional services and IT spend categories within the region, while helping drive indirect P2P efficiency and digitalization in collaboration with the Procurement COE. In addition, this leader will have the opportunity to transform indirect procurement operations, elevate strategic value creation, and enhance operational efficiency. Total spend under management or influence is approximately $300 million. Essential Duties and Responsibilities A) Lead regional strategy and value creation Develop and execute the NA indirect procurement strategy in line with global procurement objectives and regional business priorities. Drive sourcing and value creation initiatives across key operations-related spend categories, including MRO, site services, energy, utilities, logistics and packaging. Identify and deliver cost savings, productivity improvements, and demand management opportunities across the regional spend base. Ensure procurement strategies support operational reliability, business continuity, and long-term competitiveness. B) Partner closely with the business Serve as the primary procurement partner to NA operations, manufacturing sites, and functional leadership. Build strong cross-functional relationships with plant managers, engineering, operations, finance, and other key stakeholders. Lead alignment on sourcing strategies, supplier selection, and contract implementation. Support the business in balancing cost, service, risk, and operational continuity. C) Deploy global strategies regionally Partner with Global Category Leaders to implement global sourcing strategies for professional and corporate services categories such as IT, HR services, consulting, and marketing. Drive adoption of global contracts and preferred supplier programs across the region. Provide regional market intelligence, supplier insights, and demand visibility to inform global category strategies. D) Strengthen Supplier Performance, P2P Efficiency, and Governance Develop and manage a strong supplier base that supports manufacturing and operational service needs. Lead supplier performance management and contract governance to improve service quality, cost efficiency, and reliability. Strengthen supplier risk monitoring and mitigation to ensure continuity for critical services. Ensure compliance with procurement policies, sourcing processes, and governance standards. Partner with the Procurement COE to improve spend visibility, analytics, reporting, indirect P2P efficiency, and digitalization across the region. Help drive adoption of digital procurement tools and continuous improvement in indirect procurement processes to enhance transparency, efficiency, and user experience. E) Build and lead a strong regional team Lead and develop a high-performing regional team responsible for sourcing execution and stakeholder engagement. Strengthen team capabilities in strategic sourcing, negotiation, supplier relationship management, and category management. Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement. About You Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree required. MBA or advanced degree preferred. 10-15 years of experience in procurement, supply chain, and/or operations, with a strong focus on managing indirect spend within a manufacturing environment and progressive leadership responsibility. At least 5 years of this experience must be within procurement. Strong experience supporting manufacturing environments and plant operations. Strong Category expertise in relevant categories- Freight, MRO, Energy, Packaging, etc. Proven track record of managing procurement across multiple business divisions and manufacturing sites. Experience working effectively in a global organization and within a matrix structure. Demonstrated ability to balance regional business needs with global strategies. Strong stakeholder management and influencing skills across operations, functional leadership, and global teams. Experience with transformation and functional development is essential. Experience with digital transformation is a plus. Proficiency with MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams) with a strong overall digital aptitude. Proven ability to lead cross-functional initiatives and drive organizational change. Strong project management skills. Deep expertise in strategic sourcing, negotiation, supplier management, category management and P2P Process. Strong analytical and financial acumen, with the ability to translate procurement initiatives into measurable business value. Approximately 30% domestic travel , plus limited international travel as needed. Pay Transparency Disclosure:
The expected gross salary for this position is USD $145000.00 - USD $190000.00. Actual pay will be determined based on experience, qualifications, geographic location, and other job-related factors permitted by law.
