JOB GOALS
Help each participating student to achieve a high level of skill and knowledge of robotics. Develop and maintain a positive working relationship with students, staff, administration, parents, and the robotics community. Support students in the Robotics club by coordinating competitions, practices, supplies, and resources. Communicate effectively with students, activities director, administration, parents, and community, maintaining positive and supportive working relationships.
ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS
Possess a high level of competence, which may include prior Robotics participation, prior Robotics coaching experience, and completion of courses and/or clinics sufficient to provide the knowledge and skill to meet the performance responsibilities described below. Complete the VEX Robotics Coach Certification Course. Experience teaching, working with, and/or coaching high school-age students.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Encourage good sportsmanship, fair play, ethical conduct, good scholarship and desirable pupil-teacher relationships according to the MHS Handbooks and the
RECF VEX V5RC
code of conduct. Plan for and conduct or assist in organized practice sessions which actively involve all participants in conditioning, skill development and play practice. Develop and communicate the season schedule to directors, families, and students. Assist in the development of lines of communication with parents, students, teachers, administrators and the community. Teach students the skills and strategies necessary to participate in Robotics. Teach the drills and exercises needed for developing strength, stamina and speed in Robotics. Register and sign up teams for competition through robotevents.com, using and re-using prior team numbers for discounts. Assist with the proper care, maintenance, and security of facilities, equipment, and supplies. Assist in the supervision of participants, providing for their health and safety at all times, during play, practice and on district-provided transportation. Take responsibility for ensuring appropriate conduct of all players and managers while under the coach's jurisdiction, at home or away. Adhere to school and district regulations and policies regarding the conduct of coaches and student eligibility in clubs/activities. Conduct grade checks upon the request of the athletic director. Assist in making sure that students are eligible for initial participation in the club before the issuance of equipment or participation in practice. Assist in keeping a record of all injuries and report information to the athletic director's office and the office of the principal if a participant may require medical attention. Work constructively with colleagues and others for the purpose of improving the quality of students' behavior and academic success. Assist in all fundraising activities to pay for busing, registration, fees, food, parts, and incidentals for Robotics. Assist in the development of the Robotics Team Handbook. Enforce the expectations for student activities' participants as expressed in the Molalla High School Student Handbook. Adhere to policies and procedures as expressed in the Molalla High School Coaches Handbook. Perform such other tasks as may be assigned by the Board or Administration. Complete field trip and transportation logistics and requests with support of the athletic/activities secretary. Collaborate and communicate with the bookkeeper to maintain the Robotics ASB budget. Coordinate team awards nights, letters, awards, and recognitions with the Athletic and Activities Directors. Positively promote the MHS Robotics team through approved and supported social media and marketing modes.
