Job Description

Summary Pratt High School is seeking a dedicated and passionate individual to lead our softball program as a full-time coach. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of the game, excellent communication skills, and a commitment to fostering a positive and competitive environment for student-athletes. This role involves not only coaching but also mentoring young athletes, promoting teamwork, and ensuring the development of skills both on and off the field. Responsibilities Develop and implement a comprehensive training program for the softball team, focusing on skill development, strategy, and physical conditioning. Organize and conduct daily practices, ensuring a productive and engaging environment for all players. Prepare the team for competitions, including game strategy, player positioning, and in-game adjustments. Oversee the recruitment and selection of players, fostering a culture of inclusivity and teamwork. Collaborate with school administration and athletic department to schedule games, practices, and events. Monitor and promote the academic success of student-athletes, ensuring they maintain eligibility and prioritize their education. Provide guidance and mentorship to players, helping them develop leadership skills and a strong work ethic. Maintain equipment and facilities, ensuring they are safe and suitable for practice and competition. Communicate regularly with parents, guardians, and the community regarding team progress, events, and fundraising efforts. Stay updated with the latest coaching techniques, rules, and regulations related to high school softball. Requirements Previous coaching experience at the high school level or higher, preferably in softball. Strong knowledge of softball techniques, strategies, and rules. Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills. Ability to motivate and inspire student-athletes to achieve their best. First Aid and CPR certification, or willingness to obtain. Commitment to the academic and personal development of student-athletes. Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, to accommodate practice and game schedules. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. A valid driver's license and the ability to travel for games and tournaments.
