Del Monte Foods is the Foods Division of Fresh Del Monte, a global grower, producer and marketer of fresh, value-added, and shelf-stable produce. Del Monte Foods has a powerful portfolio of brands, including the iconic Del Monte®, Contadina® and S&W®. We are currently seeking a Health & Safety Supervisor. The Health & Safety Supervisor serves as a site safety leader, advisor, and change agent, responsible for the planning, coordination, and continuous improvement of Health and Safety programs. This role supports Environmental duties at the Rochelle, IL facility as required by corporate policies and procedures, as well as Federal, State, and Local regulations and industry standards. The Supervisor partners closely with Corporate and Regional Environmental and Safety teams to ensure programs are effective, site-specific, and aligned with enterprise expectations. The incumbent operates as a facilitator, coach, and subject matter expert, enabling site leadership and employees to effectively own and execute safety responsibilities. While accountable for maintaining regulatory compliance, this role is critical in influencing behaviors, strengthening safety culture, and embedding safety into daily operations, rather than acting as the sole owner of outcomes. The position supports and guides onsite personnel with safety responsibilities, driving consistency, engagement, and continuous improvement across programs and practices..Accountabilities:
Partner with site leadership to integrate safety into operations, reinforcing shared accountability and proactive risk management Serve as a subject matter expert on OSHA, DOT, and applicable regulations, providing guidance on interpretation and practical implementation Design, implement, and continuously improve safety policies, programs, and procedures to ensure compliance and drive engagement Facilitate and enhance safety training programs, ensuring content is effective, relevant, and translates into safe behaviors in the workplace Coach supervisors and managers to lead safety within their teams, including hazard identification, incident response, and corrective action ownership Support and facilitate new hire safety onboarding and ongoing development of employees and leaders Lead and guide safety committee activities, fostering employee involvement and ownership of safety initiatives Serve as an advisor on Workers Compensation programs, supporting proper case management, early return-to-work strategies, and continuous improvement in processes Facilitate incident and injury investigations, focusing on root cause analysis, learning, and sustainable corrective actions Drive proactive risk identification and mitigation through facility inspections, Job Hazard Analysis (JHA), and hazard recognition processes Partner with operations and vendors to ensure contractor and onsite safety programs align with company expectations Build and maintain knowledge to support environmental compliance programs, providing guidance and training to site personnel Conduct self-assessments and gap analyses, partnering with leadership to address opportunities and strengthen compliance and performance Prepare and maintain required documentation, reports, and compliance records in alignment with regulatory and corporate requirements Maintain environmental compliance calendars and support timely execution of all required activities Communicate risks, trends, and improvement opportunities to site leadership and corporate partners to support informed decision-making Review projects and capital requests impacting environmental and safety aspects, providing guidance on risk and compliance considerations Maintain strong partnership with Regional and Corporate Environmental and Safety teams to ensure alignment and continuous improvement. Bachelor of Science Degree in Occupational Safety, Industrial Hygiene, Environmental Science, or related field; or equivalent combination of education and directly related experience Experience in a manufacturing or food processing environment with strong working knowledge of OSHA regulations and safety management systems Proven ability to influence without direct authority, driving engagement and behavioral change across all levels of the organization Demonstrated capability to act as a safety coach and facilitator, building leadership and employee ownership of safety rather than taking sole control Experience designing, implementing, and continuously improving safety programs and systems, beyond basic compliance maintenance Ability to translate regulatory requirements into practical, operations-aligned solutions that support business performance Strong experience leading incident investigations, including root cause analysis and implementation of effective, sustainable corrective actions Effective facilitation and communication skills, with the ability to deliver training that drives understanding, engagement, and behavior change Proven ability to analyze safety data and trends and provide clear, actionable insights to leadership Demonstrated effectiveness operating as a trusted advisor to site leadership, influencing decisions that reduce risk and improve performance Ability to apply a proactive, systems-based approach to risk identification and mitigation Strong collaboration skills with the ability to build partnerships across operations, HR, and leadership teams High level of organization and project management capability, with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic environment Proficiency in Microsoft Office and safety systems used for tracking, reporting, and analysis Self-directed with strong judgment, initiative, and a continuous improvement mindset Ability to connect safety to business outcomes, aligning risk reduction with productivity, quality, and cost objectives. Experience with Behavior-Based Safety (BBS), Human Organizational Performance (HOP), or similar safety culture frameworks Prior experience in food manufacturing or high-risk production environments Certification such as CSP (Certified Safety Professional), ASP, or equivalent Experience supporting workers compensation programs, return-to-work processes, and cost containment strategies Familiarity with safety management systems and tools (e.g., JJ Keller, Alchemy, or similar platforms) Experience supporting or leading internal and external audits, including regulatory and customer audits Bilingual capabilities (English & Spanish). •Please note: This position does not qualify for relocation expenses.•Fresh Del Monte Produce Inc. is a global leader in the production, distribution, and marketing of fresh and fresh cut fruits and vegetables.
