Job Description

"I learned how to be confident when faced with problems and how to communicate with others." - Ellie (Camper) Job Description The Health Staff tend to the youth and staff of Bethany Birches Camp when they are injured, dehydrated, sick or otherwise in need of care. They will communicate clearly with the manager / counselor most connected to each campers activities.

Full Time Seasonal 1 Individual hired each summer Duties Below are general additional duties that all program team members share: Arrange through the Program Director any needed visits to any other medical facility, including Ludlow Walk-in Clinic, Dartmouth Hitchcock Hospital, etc. Keep medical records for insurance purposes and at the end of counselor training and at the end of each session, give information (health, incident), to the Office Coordinator for long term filing. Review, and have updated as needed, the BBC Standing Orders, Healthcare Policies and other forms and documents. Be available on the radio, or at the health office. If going off site, notify the director on duty. Designate qualified person(s) to cover the health office when away from camp when in session. Decide when a camper is too sick to remain with their cabin-mates. If a camper is kept in the health office, the cabin counselor must be notified immediately. Secure appropriate food from the kitchen at mealtime for any sick campers under your care. Keep records. Be at the nurse table each check-in to greet campers and their parents, collect and check all health forms. Receive camper medications at this time for safekeeping in the health office during the camper session. Requirements Knowledge, and affirmation of Bethany Birches Camp's mission, purpose, and core values. Desires to work and live in a camp community (it's fun!). Ability to learn and become familiar with most of the camp schedules and regulations, including safety rules. Ideal fits are licensed as a registered nurse in Vermont•. Other certifications will be considered such as EMT, LNA, PA, MD, etc. If you are interested in this role but not licensed, you may be qualified to fill the role as "health staff." Skill with written and verbal communication, including experience with computer operation. Ability to self-motivate and able to respond positively to direction & requests. Ability to communicate relevant and important information to team members. Ability to organize daily activities of self and others and to work as a team player.

Compensation Starting Salary:
