Health Unit Coordinator - Post-Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU)

The Post-Anesthesia Care Unit's (PACU) team of caregivers at Avon Hospital pride themselves on providing top-quality and patient-centered care all while ensuring the safety of their patients. Caregivers on this unit provide care to diverse populations of post-surgical patients waiting for their anesthesia to wear off. As a Health Unit Coordinator on this floor, your daily responsibilities will include performing various administrative and clerical tasks to support the organization and flow of the department. A caregiver in this role works days from 6:00 a.m. - 2:30 p.m. A caregiver who excels in this role will: Conduct an in-person greeting, welcome and orientation to the unit for newly admitted and transferred patients. Respond to patient call lights and make rounds. Assist with processing patient admissions, transfers and discharges. Assist patients and families with wayfinding and directing them to available resources. Assemble and maintain patient medical records and other documents related to patient care. Handle various computer tasks, such as updating schedules and managing patient information. Assist with unit clerical functions and in trouble-shooting equipment failures, such as call system, portable phones, WOWs and other unit devices. Make pre-op phone calls for next day surgical patients. Prepare print outs of next day schedule for posting in department. Coordinate on call schedule and communication to leadership Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include: High School Diploma or GED One year of experience in a customer service-related role Experience with typing, computer training or equivalent coursework Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include: College degree Experience with Microsoft Office applications (e.g., Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint)

Physical Requirements:

Requires full range of motion, manual and finger dexterity and eye-hand coordination. Requires frequent data entry, standing and walking for extensive periods of time. Requires normal or corrected speech, hearing and vision. Requires some exposure to communicable disease or body fluids.

Pay Range Minimum hourly:

$18.25 Maximum hourly: $24.95 The pay range displayed on this job posting reflects the anticipated range for new hires. A successful candidate's actual compensation will be determined after taking factors into consideration such as the candidate's work history, experience, skill set and education.
