Regular Job Summary:

Diagnoses, prevents, or treats disease based on traditional Chinese medical concepts of treating specific areas of the human body, known as acupuncture points or meridians.

Job Responsibilities and Requirements:

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

Collects medical histories and general lifestyle information from patients. Assess patient's general physical appearance to properly treat. Educates patients on topics such as meditation, ergonomics, stretching, exercise, nutrition, the healing process, breathing, and relaxation techniques. Administers treatment through the use of manual, thermal, or electrical stimulation; acupuncture needles and moxibustion. Maintains and follows standard quality, safety, and environmental infection control procedures. Maintains detailed and complete records of health care plans. Works in a constant state of alertness and safe manner. Performs other duties as assigned.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Constant standing. Frequent lifting/carrying and pushing/pulling objects weighing 0-25 lbs. Frequent use of hearing and speech to share information through oral communication. Frequent use of hearing to distinguish body sounds and/or hear alarms, malfunctioning machinery, etc. Frequent use of vision for distances near (20 inches or less) and far (20 feet or more). Frequent walking, reaching, gripping and keyboard use/data entry. Occasional bending, stooping, climbing, kneeling, sitting, squatting, twisting and repetitive foot/leg and hand/arm movements. Occasional lifting/carrying and pushing/pulling objects weighing 25-50 lbs. Occasional lifting/moving patients. Occasional use of vision to judge distances and spatial relationships and to identify and distinguish colors. Occasional driving. Rare crawling.

REQUIRED PROFESSIONAL LICENSE AND/OR CERTIFICATIONS

Resuscitation Certification Requirement:

Basic Life Support Healthcare Provider (BLS HCP) required within 90 day of employment. Other resuscitation certifications may be required dependent on department.
