Coordinates and manages activities related to anesthesia department. Maintains anesthesia machines and equipment. Sets up operating rooms with required anesthesia and physiologic monitoring equipment in preparation for anesthesia in surgical and obstetric suites. Removes and cleans equipment at end of procedures (if possible) and restocks anesthesia supplies for subsequent use. Provides assistance to central supply as needed Key areas of responsibility Assists with turnover changing and wiping down anesthesia machine and cart also any equipment that might be in the room. This includes anesthesia circuit, suction tubing, and EKG leads. Troubleshoots anesthesia equipment Set up any special equipment that might be needed for the case Performing the leak test on the anesthesia machine Assist with setting up the Belmont, and or Level One rapid infuser Provide support to the Anesthesia provider during emergency trauma cases, or called upon as needed Qualifications Education High school diploma required Experience Operating Room experience would be helpful to this position, such as a clinical technician, PCA, CNA, Pharmacy Tech, or any related field. Licensure, Certification, Registration CPR Certification Language Skills English Knowledge, Skills and Ability Requirements Employee must be able to cover all specialty areas where anesthesia is administered, and must exhibit excellent communication skills, understanding by responding appropriately to emergencies. Critical creative thinking, planning, problem solving, and decision making are all responsibilities in this position, as well as, prioritizing responsibilities throughout the shift.
