Job Description

Overview This Anesthesia Aide provides a variety of department stocking and cleaning activities, along with direct/indirect patient care activities under the direction of a licensed Anesthesia Provider. This individual demonstrate excellent customer service performance in that their attitude and actions are at all times consistent with the standards contained in the Vision, Mission and Values of the Covenant HealthCare and the commitment to Extraordinary Care for Every Generation. Responsibilities Responsible for the routine cleaning and basic care of Anesthesia equipment. Maintains, stocks and cleans the Anesthesia workroom. Maintains, stocks and cleans the various Anesthesia carts. Changes over equipment, carts and supplies in the operating room suites between cases. Provides/obtains supplies or equipment as needed during procedures. Provides assistance as appropriate to the Anesthesia Providers in the clinical area. Assists in entering patient charges in the computer system. Participates in Quality Assurance / Improved Patient Outcome activities as appropriate. Adheres to department policies, procedures and structure standards. Attends equipment in-services and other educational sessions as necessary. Performs other department-related duties as required. Demonstrates appropriate interpersonal skills in dealing with patients, families and co-workers. Maintains confidentiality / HIPPA Regulations in relation to patients, families, and the organization. EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
Required:
High School graduate or equivalent
Required:
BLS Heartsaver Preferred:
Post-high school science / mechanical / electrical courses. Completion of the certification ASATT exam when eligible is strongly desired
Preferred:
Successful completion of nurse aide program, or similar/related hospital experience.
Preferred:
Work experience within the Operating Room / Anesthesia Department.
KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES
Understand and ability to use sterile technique. Computer skills (related to patient charge entry).
Preferred:
Understanding of basic mechanical / electronic concepts to facilitate care of Anesthesia equipment.
WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Ability to maintain punctual attendance consistent with the ADA, FMLA, and other federal, state, and local standards Constant lifting up to 10 lbs. Constant standing, walking, carrying, reaching, handling, talking, hearing, near vision, depth perception, visual accommodation, color vision, and field of vision Frequent lifting up 25 lbs. Frequent sitting, lifting, pushing, pulling, stooping, twisting, feeling, midrange vison, and far vision Occasional climbing, balancing, kneeling, crouching, squatting, crawling, tasting, and smelling
