As a Tech - Anesthesiology, you will play a vital role in supporting anesthesiologists, CRNAs, and other anesthesia professionals by preparing and maintaining sophisticated anesthesia equipment, assisting during complex surgical cases, and ensuring all tools operate smoothly. This position offers the chance to work in a fast-paced, multidisciplinary environment where your skills directly impact patient outcomes and surgical success.
Responsibilities:
Assist in patient anesthesia care by preparing anesthesia equipment, monitoring devices, and supplies prior to procedures. Support clinicians with difficult intubations, central line placements, and advanced airway management techniques. Operate and troubleshoot complex anesthesia equipment, including cell-saver machines, infusion pumps, nerve stimulators, defibrillators, and fiberoptic bronchoscopes. Maintain and perform preventive care on anesthesia machinery to ensure optimal operation and safety. Serve as a key resource in the setup, calibration, and troubleshooting of anesthesia equipment across various surgical specialties such as cardiac, liver transplant, vascular, thoracic, and trauma surgeries. Collaborate directly with faculty and division chiefs to support specialized anesthetic procedures. Assist in developing and delivering in-service training programs for staff and new team members. Prepare operating rooms and anesthesia carts between cases, ensuring all equipment and supplies are organized and ready. Provide backup support to shift supervisors during absences, maintaining seamless workflow. Perform other duties as assigned, including support for outpatient procedures and interdepartmental equipment requests.
Required Skills:
Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification. Minimum of two years of experience as an Anesthesia Technologist or Technician. Strong understanding of anesthesia equipment setup, maintenance, and troubleshooting. Ability to work independently with limited supervision while maintaining communication with team members. Proficiency in operating advanced anesthesia devices and monitoring equipment. Excellent organizational skills for room preparation and equipment management. Have Skills:
Certification from the American Society of Anesthesia Technologists or other recognized certifying body. Experience working with advanced surgical procedures, including cardiac, transplant, vascular, and trauma surgeries. Knowledge of hospital protocols for equipment sterilization and safety standards. Prior training or teaching experience in anesthesia technology or related fields.
Preferred Education and Experience:
A four-year college degree with relevant technical training or equivalent combination of education and work experience. Prior experience supporting anesthesia teams in a hospital setting. Familiarity with perioperative processes and aseptic techniques.
Other Requirements:
Availability to work scheduled days on call, including weekends and holidays, based on unit needs. Flexibility to assist with out-of-OR procedures requiring anesthesia support.
