THERAPIST General Statement of Job:

The SBMH Therapist works under the direct supervision of a Clinical Supervisor qualified and experienced in school-based services. This position provides on-site therapy to school site(s) and families as directed by the Clinical Supervisor or the Director of Student Services.

The SBMH Therapist serves as a readily available resource for students, providing therapy that leads each student to increased personal growth, self-understanding, and maturity.

Qualifications, Knowledge, and Skills:

For this position, Social Workers in NC must have at least a Master's degree in Social Work, and hold either their LCSW or LCSWA clinical licensure or provisional licensure. Counselors in NC must have at least a Master's degree in Counseling, and hold either their LCMHC or LCMHCA clinical licensure or provisional licensure.

Specific Duties and Responsibilities:

Meets with the Clinical Supervisor one hour per week or month (depending on licensure) for individual supervision and participates in weekly group supervision. Conducts the intake/screening/assessment process within appropriate time frames and in conjunction with school site staff and administration. Provides in-person individual student therapy services weekly and family therapy monthly. Consults with classroom staff, student assistance program coordinators, school counselors, school social workers, and behavior specialists in understanding students' social-emotional abilities and needs. Serves as a part of the school's student services team as well as threat team. Will manage crises in the school building and complete mental health assessments when a student is experiencing SI/HI.
