KIND OF WORK
The Berkeley County Day Report Center is a Licensed Behavioral Health Center which focuses on substance abuse treatment for individuals with a history of substance use disorder. The Therapist is intended to support identified individuals who have a history of substance use disorder and a need for substance use treatment. The Therapist can be characterized as someone who understands substance use, co-occurring/co-existing disorders and the varying manifestations associated with such disorders. The Therapist will be responsible for providing assessments and conducting individual and group therapy for adults and/or juveniles under the supervision of the Clinical Supervisor.
EXAMPLES OF WORK
Perform assessments, psychosocial evaluations and treatment planning and updating. Provide individual and group therapy to assigned caseload. Participate in multi-disciplinary treatment team meetings. Prepare reports, correspondence, and documents. Assess client's mental condition based on review of client information, interviews, observation, tests, and collaboration with other staff members. Serve as a client advocate to coordinate required services. Performs related work as required.
QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS
Possesses a master's degree in professional counseling, social work, or related field from an accredited institution, or master's degree in progress. Possess a valid license or license eligible as an LICSW, LPC, preferred. Practicum or internship students are eligible to apply. Knowledge of principles of counseling, adult education, and vocational education. Knowledge of local community structure and resources. Ability to work within the community and use available resources. Ability to maintain records as well as make oral and written reports. Ability to maintain strict confidentiality. Ability to build relationships. Strong interpersonal skills and convincing abilities. Ability to understand and carry out detailed instructions. Proficient personal computer skills using spreadsheets and word processing software. Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
This is sedentary work requiring the exertion of up to 10 pounds of force occasionally. Hearing is required to perceive information at normal spoken word levels. Visual acuity is required for preparing and analyzing written or computer data.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
Possession of a valid driver's license. Proof of official transcripts and degree or license required. Reasonable accommodation may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential tasks.
