Basic Functions:
Under the general supervision of the assigned Site Administrator, and in coordination with the District Nurse and Athletic Director as appropriate, the Athletic Trainer provides athletic training services focused on the prevention, recognition, evaluation, treatment, and rehabilitation of athletic injuries for student-athletes. In addition, the Athletic Trainer provides health office support to assist with general student health needs, health documentation, and emergency response, as assigned. The Athletic Trainer serves as a liaison between students, coaches, parents/guardians, physicians, administrators, and health staff to ensure the safety, health, and well-being of students. The Athletic Trainer ensures that students participate in athletic activities only when physically able and in accordance with physician instructions, CIF requirements, and District policies. Duties may include working late afternoons, evenings, weekends, and off-site events. The incumbent must work effectively with individuals from diverse cultural, social, and educational backgrounds. Education & Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree in Athletic Training, Anatomy, Kinesiology, Physiology, Sports Medicine, or a closely related field from an accredited college or university.
  • Any combination of education, training, and experience that demonstrates proficiency in athletic training and student health support
  • One (1) year of athletic training experience required; three (3) to four (4) years preferred
  • Experience working in a secondary school athletic setting preferred.
  • Certified Athletic Trainer (ATC) through the Board of Certification (BOC), in good standing
  • Current First Aid and CPR/AED certification
  • Completion of Athletic Taping and Bracing coursework or equivalent experience 1
  • Fingerprint clearance from DOJ and FBI
