Surgical Athletic Trainer

Job Overview The primary responsibilities for the Clinical Athletic Trainer are to provide support in physician and physician assistant (PA-C) orthopedic or sports medicine clinics, providing direct patient care, including injury evaluation, rehabilitation, and casting and bracing. They enhance clinical efficiency by managing patient flow, documenting histories, and assisting physicians with procedures. The Athletic Trainer I is an entry level position in a Career Advancement Program (CAP). As an entry level position, team members in this position receive direct supervision and guidance from higher level Athletic Trainers, supervisors, and/or providers regarding proper documentation in medical notes, medical terminology, use of "dot phrases", relationship building and time management.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

An employee in this position may be called upon to do any or all of the following essential functions. Coordinates and communicates with patients, families, physicians, and other healthcare team members to ensure excellent customer service and continuity and quality of care. 2. Perform administrative and clerical responsibilities necessary for effective and efficient clinic flow. 3. In a clinical setting, performs orthopedic evaluation of patients and communicates findings. Under direct supervision, documents and edits medical notes. Takes medical histories following established standards and guidelines. Follows providers' standing orders to enter appropriate imaging orders, other referrals, and/or medications. 4. Document patient visits in Electronic Medical Records (e.g., Epic), manage referrals, and assist with scheduling. 5. Maintains clinic flow between all areas of the clinic, patient brace/crutch fitting, casting, splinting, and bracing for musculoskeletal injuries and product education at the direction of providers instruction. 6. In certain specialties, may Assist orthopedic surgeons during surgical procedures, ensuring all instruments and equipment are properly sterilized and prepared. 7. Communicate and educate patients on plan of care, such as inquiries about treatments, therapies, pre- and post-operative care and expected outcomes. 8. Provides event coverage. Athletic Trainers in the clinical setting provide occasional medical coverage at outside games and tournaments.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education:

Bachelor's degree in Athletic Training or a related field. Master's degree preferred.

Experience:

Minimum of 3 years in the clinical setting strongly preferred. Preferred qualifications include residency trained athletic trainer, previous knowledge of pediatric conditions and hip management preferred. Certification(s): Certified as an Athletic Trainer by the Board of Certification (BOC) for Athletic Trainers. Basic Life Support (BLS) and/or Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification. Licensure(s): State of Colorado Department of Regulatory Agencies (DORA) License for Athletic Trainer, Surgical Assist License needed only if active role in the operating room Salary Information Pay is dependent on applicant's relevant experience. Annual Salary Range (Based on 40 hours worked per week): $54,790.77 to $82,186.16 Benefits Information Here, you matter.
