Min $57,865.60 Mid $72,342.40 Position Summary The Certified Athletic Trainer (ATC) at Lakeland Regional Orthopedic Association is a fundamental member of the orthopedic surgery healthcare team that practices under the direct supervision of the Orthopedic Surgeon(s). He/She will work in collaboration with the Orthopedic Surgeon(s), Physician Assistant(s) and ancillary staff members providing a multitude of services to increase clinic efficiency and optimize patient care. The Certified Athletic Trainer will be expected to be efficient in completing a thorough patient history, interpreting radiographs, evaluating the patient, establishing an appropriate treatment plan, and presenting the case to the Orthopedic Surgeon or Physician Assistant. The Certified Athletic Trainer contributes to positive outcomes and meets the cultural expectations of Lakeland Regional Health Systems by exhibiting the highest professional behavior. Athletic Trainer Actively participates in team development and in accomplishing Department goals and objectives. Effectively utilizes Department resources to provide exceptional healthcare while maintaining good stewardship. Demonstrates flexibility to meet patient workloads so that positive patient outcomes are achieved while maintaining a high level and efficient work ethic to ensure consistent patient care. Utilizing measures to promote and maintain patient, visitor, and staff safety by demonstrating appropriate use of infection control principles and personal protection equipment. Maintains patient, employee, physician, and organizational confidentiality; maintains HIPPA; respects the right, privacy and property of others. Increase clinic efficiency by obtaining a thorough history, completing physical examinations, providing therapeutic exercise instruction, reviewing and interpreting MRI's, x-rays, CT's, and lab results, followed by a complete case presentation to the attending physician. Provide well-rounded care for surgical patients including; pre-operating instruction, post-operative evaluation and education, wound care, orthopedic brace fitting, cast application and removal. Increase administrative efficiency through preparation of patient charts via Electronic Medical Records management and organization. Responsible for ordering, maintaining and billing for clinic supplies and durable medical equipment. Stewardship Demonstrates responsible use of LRH's resources including people, finances, equipment and facilities. Knows and adheres to organizational and department policies and procedures.Competencies & Skills Essential:
Working knowledge of basic computer skills. Demonstration of effective problem solving, decision-making, interpersonal, and team work skills. Use of effective verbal and written communication skills. Demonstration of time management and organizational skills. Successful completion of mandatory requirements, including Department proficiencies/competencies. Having a complete understanding of orthopedic injuries, confident evaluation skills, and a complete understanding of orthopedic protocols for acute, chronic and post-surgical\orthopedic management. Determine and respond to patient needs and concerns based on the diagnosis and treatment plan provided. Provide and explain patient education materials and other documentation (excuse notes, restrictions, workers compensation forms, etc.) in a manner that is understandable to the patient. Demonstrate the ability to apply and remove casts for common upper extremity (short arm, long arm, thumb spica etc.) and lower extremity fractures (short leg - NWB, short leg weight bearing, long leg etc.).Nonessential:
Understand the management of a Durable Medical Equipment program, including measuring and fitting devices, documenting for possible reimbursement, inventory management, and measuring the value of the product to both the patient and the Department. Demonstrate appropriate sterile procedures for the orthopedic clinic. Demonstrate appropriate usage of instruments and supplies for wound care and suture / staple removal. Essential computer skills and knowledge of electronic medical records recommended. Position requires basic and continuously updated, evidence based knowledge of anatomy and physiology, pathology, pharmacology, primary care medicine, preventive health maintenance and emergency medical care.Qualifications & Experience Essential:
