Provide classroom and hands-on skills training to bus managers, monitor trainees, veteran bus managers, and monitors in accordance with state and federal rules and regulations for the Transportation Department. Provide essential practical instruction for the basic new driver-training course. Instruct and demonstrate uniform laws, rules of the road, and Gwinnett Board policies and procedures. Instruct Georgia Department of Education (DOE) rules and regulations. Develop and instruct improvement plan to new trainees. Provide hands-on skills training for new school bus managers and monitor trainees, veteran bus managers, and other transportation personnel. Demonstrate and instruct defensive driving skills to include expressways, primary and secondary roads, bus routes, bridges, railroad grade crossing, school campuses, and all other GCPS locations. Provide supervision for field trainers. Train field trainers in all applicable areas of the basic new school driver-training course. Plan and schedule American Heart Association (AHA) Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and First Aid certification for school bus managers and monitor trainees, veteran bus managers and monitors, and other district employees. Instruct, demonstrate, and monitor skill development for class participants. Report all scores to AHA to maintain certification. Plan, schedule, and supervise the written and vehicle skills exam for the annual Bus Manager of the Year for veteran bus managers and monitors. Schedule and supervise the vehicle skills test for all contestants. Score each contestant based on Road-e-o measurements. Report all scores to the Human Resources Division. Plan, schedule, and supervise the vehicle skills exam for the Annual Driver Proficiency Test for veteran bus managers and coaches that drive a school bus transporting students to and from school and other school activities. Develop a plan to process each veteran bus manager and coach through an annual vehicle driving skills test. Schedule and supervise the vehicle skills test for all veteran bus managers and coaches. Score each bus manager based on a designated passing grade on each event. Re-train individuals that fall below a designated passing grade. Report all scores to transportation management and fleet maintenance. Plan, schedule, and supervise the Return to Work Program, Accident Follow-Up Training, and remedial training for veteran bus managers and monitors. Review policies and procedures in areas of deficiency. Demonstrate proper use and care of equipment. Provide documentation for files. Assist with the annual district and state School Bus Road-e-o practice and competition (i.e. Regular Education and Special Needs). Setup and score obstacle course based on exact measurements prescribed by the Georgia DOE and Pupil Transportation Safety Institute.Physical Demands:

The employee may be required to use hands to touch, handle, feel, and/or reach. The employee is occasionally required to stoop, kneel, or crouch. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
