The Licensed Athletic Trainer provides high-quality care and support to Blessing Health Orthopedics by delivering athletic training services in both the secondary school and clinical settings. This position collaborates with physicians, advanced practice providers, nurses, physical therapists, coaches, athletic directors, athletes, and families to ensure safe and effective prevention, evaluation, treatment, and rehabilitation of injuries. The role includes outreach services to assigned schools and/or physician extender responsibilities in the clinic, as determined by departmental needs. Principal Responsibilities Clinical & Outreach Care Provide athletic training services at assigned high schools and outreach events, including occasional travel for away contests. Serve as a physician extender in clinic, assisting with evaluations, casting/splinting, rehabilitation planning, post-operative care, patient education, and supporting consultations/treatments. Implement injury prevention, assessment, treatment, and reconditioning strategies in accordance with Board of Certification (BOC) standards, Illinois Department of Professional Regulation, and physician direction. Determine readiness for participation in collaboration with physicians and communicate health status to coaches, athletes, and families. Refer athletes/patients to physicians or specialists as needed. Deliver appropriate rehabilitation programs, treatment interventions, and education. Identify psychosocial needs and make referrals when appropriate. Provide taping, bracing, fitting of athletic equipment, and other standard AT services. Communication & Coordination Act as a liaison between athletes, parents/guardians, coaches, and healthcare providers. Maintain accurate documentation of patient care, injury tracking, and administrative reports per departmental and regulatory standards. Participate in pre-participation physicals as able, game/practice coverage, and community or program-related events. Assist with department performance improvement, safety programs, and infection control compliance. Support special projects and educational initiatives to promote the Blessing Orthopedics Sports Medicine program. Professional & Organizational Standards Demonstrate sound judgment, initiative, flexibility, and effective time management. Promote positive public relations and represent Blessing Health System professionally in the community. Provide excellent customer service while adhering to Blessing's ICARE values. Comply with incident reporting policies and participate in quality improvement activities. Perform other duties as assigned.JOB QUALIFICATIONS
Education/Training/Experience:
REQUIRED
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Athletic Training. Certified Athletic Trainer (ATC) through the Board of Certification. Licensed (or license-eligible) as an Athletic Trainer in Illinois and/or Missouri (new graduates must show proof of license application and obtain licensure within 3 months). Strong communication and interpersonal skills; ability to work effectively on a multidisciplinary team. Flexibility in work schedule, including evenings, weekends, and travel as required.PREFERRED
Current BOC national certification status for athletic training.License/Certifications/Special Requirements:
Possesses current Illinois state Athletic Trainer license. Valid driver's licensePAY STATUS
