Certified- Commonwealth of Massachusetts Allied Health Professions/Licensed Athletic Trainer Certified
NATA BOC
Current CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer (or equivalent) and First Aid certification Bachelor's or Master's degree in Athletic Training preferred Athletic Trainer experience preferred- experience working in the high school or collegiate athletic settings preferred Familiarity with MIAA rules and regulations preferred
Position Summary:
The Athletic Trainer is responsible for the comprehensive management of athletic health care services, including injury prevention, evaluation, treatment, and therapeutic rehabilitation of student-athletes. This role ensures a safe and effective environment for athletic participation through collaboration with coaches, physicians, teachers, school nurses, and school administration, to allow for the least loss of competitive time, while keeping the mental and physical welfare of the student-athlete as the top priority.Duties/Responsibilities:
Responsible for the daily operations, organization, maintenance, inventory and requisition of the Training Room and its supplies. Requisitions must be submitted to, and approved by, the Athletic Director. Provide immediate and ongoing care for athletic injuries and illnesses, including injury evaluation, emergency response, and referral to appropriate medical professionals. Carries out appropriate instructions and treatment as directed by the student-athlete's physician. Develop, implement, and monitor individualized rehabilitation and return-to-play programs in collaboration with physicians and healthcare providers. Assess and determine student-athletes' readiness for participation and administer medical clearances as appropriate. Apply preventative and protective measures, including taping, bracing, and bandaging, to reduce injury risk. Coordinate baseline and follow-up concussion testing and manage return-to-play protocols in accordance with best practices. Responsible for reporting all injuries to the Athletic Director and School Nurse on the proper forms and keeping an annual record of all athletic injuries. Will assist in completion and filing of athletic injury insurance forms. Maintain accurate, timely, and compliant documentation of all evaluations, treatments, and athlete interactions. Communicate effectively with coaches, physicians, teachers, school nurses, administration, and families regarding injury status, recovery progress, and participation limitations. Assists and advises the Coaching Staff regarding injury prevention, conditioning programs and the selection, care and fitting of protective equipment. Responsible for giving basic information to athletic staff in the care and prevention of injuries. Collaborate with the Athletic Director and Coaching Staff to support weight room safety, functionality, and athlete usage protocols. Shall be responsible for tracking athletic physicals and assisting in scheduling of athletic physicals with student-athlete's guardians and physicians, as appropriate. Weekday after-school practice and contest coverage. Must be present at all varsity football games (home and away) and all home sub-varsity football games. Will coordinate with the Athletic Director for coverage of home athletic events including tournaments, and weekend and holiday games/practices. Attend required meetings and events, including seasonal coaches meetings and annual athletics programming. AED service and maintenance for the school district. Perform additional event management and/or administrative duties as assigned by the Athletic Director.Terms of Employment:
Employment is contingent upon completing a satisfactory check of criminal records (C.O.R.I), and a suitable fingerprint check. All employees must complete all required training and certification programs deemed necessary by the School District or MIAA.Evaluation:
Performance will be evaluated by the Athletic Director in accordance with Maynard Public Schools policies and produres.Position Type:
