Springfield College seeks applications for a Clinical Athletic Trainer with primary responsibilities in Football with a rank of Assistant Professor of Athletic Training within the Department of Athletic Training. This is a full-time, nine-month, program-track appointment within the School of Physical Education, Performance and Sport Leadership beginning August 2026. Expertise in the field, demonstrated excellence in clinical teaching, and a strong commitment to service and professional activities is expected. This faculty member will be responsible for providing comprehensive athletic health care for the Springfield College intercollegiate football program while simultaneously providing clinical education, supervision and instruction to athletic training students. Preference will be given to candidates who can bring diverse perspectives to this growing department and are motivated to help students succeed. Actual salaries will vary depending on multiple factors, including but not limited to degrees attained, experience, and other considerations permitted by law. Comprehensive compensation details, including any additional benefits, will be communicated upon finalization of the employment offer. Responsibilities Duties will primarily include providing comprehensive athletic health care for the Springfield College intercollegiate athletic program while simultaneously providing clinical education, supervision, and instruction to athletic training students. Additional responsibilities will include teaching in athletic training lecture and/or laboratory courses.
Qualifications Required Qualifications:
Interested candidates for this position will have an earned degree in Athletic Training from a CAATE-accredited institution, as well as a post-professional master's or doctoral degree from a regionally accredited institution in Athletic Training or a related discipline. A minimum of 3 years of experience as a certified athletic trainer, licensed or eligible for licensure in Massachusetts and an NPI number Candidates must have demonstrated contemporary expertise in one or more of the following areas: urgent and emergent care, primary care, rehabilitation or orthopedics. Candidates must possess strong clinical, administrative, and technology skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
Preferred qualifications include 5 or more years of experience as a preceptor, CPR/AED instructor certification, and 2 or more years of experience engaging in teaching. Experience using EMR also preferred. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities The environment of the athletic training clinic fosters collaboration between faculty, staff, graduate teaching fellows, residents and athletic training students.
