This position supports the health and safety of all athletic program participants and collaborates with coaches, school staff, and healthcare providers.

Essential ResponsibilitiesProvide on-site athletic training coverage for practices and home athletic events as assignedEvaluate and assess athletic injuries and determine appropriate care plansAdminister first aid and emergency care, including concussion management protocolsDevelop and implement injury prevention and rehabilitation programsMaintain accurate records of injuries, treatments, and athlete progressCommunicate effectively with coaches, parents, school nurses, and physicians regarding athlete statusEnsure compliance with school, district, and state athletic health and safety regulationsOversee proper use and maintenance of athletic training equipment and suppliesAssist in the development and implementation of emergency action plansEducate student-athletes on injury prevention, nutrition, and wellnessQualificationsBachelors degree in Athletic Training, Sports Medicine, or related field (Masters preferred)Current certification through the Board of Certification (BOC) for Athletic TrainersLicensed or eligible for licensure as an Athletic Trainer in MACurrent CPR/AED and First Aid certificationExperience working with high school athletes preferredSkills and CompetenciesStrong knowledge of sports injuries, rehabilitation techniques, and prevention strategiesAbility to respond quickly and effectively in emergency situationsExcellent communication and interpersonal skillsStrong organizational and documentation skillsAbility to work flexible hours, including afternoons, evenings, and occasional weekendsHourly position based on athletic schedulePrimarily afternoons, evenings, and weekends during athletic seasonThe Winthrop Public Schools is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
