Job Description

JOB SUMMARY
The Associate Athletic Trainer develops and administers injury prevention and treatment plans, directs rehabilitation programs for athletes, and communicates daily with the athletic team. This position attends local and away practice and games in order to evaluate and treat injuries or potential injuries. This position works closely with the Assistant Athletic Director / Sports Medicine, athletic training staff, administrators, coaches, sports performance personnel, team physicians as well as extended sports medicine staff. Additionally, the Athletic Trainer works with the Sports Medicine team to maintain the health care and well-being of Saint Louis University's student athletes.
PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Provides the highest level of health care for a diverse population of student-athletes including but not limited to prevention, management, treatment and rehabilitation of injuries/illnesses/medical conditions Maintains medical records on student-athletes to include physical examinations, insurance information and injury evaluation reports Assesses risk of injury, self-care implementation and overall wellness promotion Electronic documentation of all patient encounters Attends scheduled meetings, team practices and events including travel Assists in the management of institutional and NCAA drug testing Interfaces with coaches and the SLU Sports Performance department regarding injured student-athletes Stays current on all Missouri state and national requirements for license renewal Complies with all University, A10 and NCAA bylaws and legislation as well as to follow the NATA Code of Ethics Supervises student sports medicine assistants and SLU Athletic Training Program students Performs other duties as assigned
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
Knowledge of NCAA Division 1 rules and regulations Knowledge of medical privacy laws and policies Excellent clinical skills to interact effectively with student athletes, professional colleagues, administrators, coaches and the public Strong written and verbal communication skills Strong organizational and administrative skills
MINMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's degree in related field required Board of Certification (BOC) certification, as well as Missouri state licensure eligible
PREFERRED QUALIFCATIONS
Master's degree in related field 1-2 years of professional Athletic Training experience
