Description The University of Montana invites applications for two to three (2-3) Assistant Athletic Trainers for UM Athletics . The Athletic Trainers will assist in the administration of health care under the supervision of the Head Certified Athletic Trainer and the Team Physicians. An Athletic Trainer will be assigned to one of three areas of sports: Track and Field, Football, and Basketball. Salary is dependent on assigned sport. Athletic Department employees and those University employees outside the Athletic Department with NCAA rules compliance responsibilities are subject at all times to NCAA Bylaws 10.1 and 11.1 regarding ethical conduct and the responsibility to positively contribute to a campus culture of NCAA rules compliance. Failure to conduct one-self as such will result in disciplinary or corrective action up to and including immediate discharge. Examples of Duties and Responsibilities Maintain injury records and progress reports on student-athletes Apply protective devices and equipment, as needed Remain on call for low-risk sports, and be present for practices and competitions for high-risk sports, as assigned Coordinate preventative and rehabilitative treatments under the supervision of the Head Certified Athletic Trainer and Team Physicians Ensure the physical, emotional, and social welfare of student-athletes Communicate with coaches to identify problem areas and discuss athlete health care plans Report any compliance issues to the UM Compliance Office regarding countable athletically-related activities (CARA), student-athlete welfare, or any other applicable NCAA rule and regulation Participate in the Athletic Training Education Program as a clinical instructor Other duties as assigned Minimum Qualifications Master's degree in appropriate area of specialization Minimum of two (2) years of directly related work experience as a certified athletic trainer in a collegiate or professional sport setting Must possess in good standing AT certification through the Board of Certification and ability to receive and maintain MT AT License Knowledge and experience with NCAA rules and regulations Knowledge and understanding of current practice standards in the field of athletic training, evidence-based practice, NCAA policies, NATA position statements and other regulations important to appropriate care of patients Knowledge and understanding of CAATE standards and working with an accredited athletic training education program Excellent analytical, problem solving, organizational, leadership, and decision-making skills Ability to work with a diverse population Ability to effectively communicate with AT staff, physicians, student-athletes, coaches, administrators, faculty and parents Preferred Qualifications Experience and certifications in Manual therapies, Dry Needling, Blood flow restriction, and concussion management Demonstrated supervisory experience Experience and interest working with football Experience and interest working with basketball Experience and interest working with track and field Additional Information Position is full-time, 1.0 FTE, MUS Contract and includes a comprehensive and competitive benefits package including insurance package, mandatory retirement plan, partial tuition waiver, and wellness program.
