Job Purpose:
Bishop Kearney Selects Athletic Trainer position will educate Student-Athletes on general health habits that will assist in injury prevention and overall well-being and will provide medical coverage at athletic events including practices, home and away competitions. Athletic trainers will also coordinate care for orthopedic injuries as needed with team physicians which may include transportation to and from appointments for student-athletes. Specific assignment is with the Girls Hockey Program which includes U16 and U19 teams. Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Athletic Trainer:
Daily instruction of Student-Athletes on rehabilitation exercises post injury to provide a safe return to athletic participation Implement the treatment, care, and rehabilitation of injuries Evaluate and direct the emergency medical attention given when a student-athlete is seriously injured in practice or competition Provide injury evaluation and tracking documentation. Provide athletic trainer certified coverage for all assigned practices and events Daily scheduling to cover practices, competition, and necessary medical appointments Occasional driving of a school van for practices, events, and medical appointments is required. Clean and maintain facility and equipment. Fulfill assigned residence life duties High level of personal integrity Outstanding work ethic Strong verbal and written communication skills Good organizational ability and computer competency Demonstrated ability to inspire Student-Athletes to develop to their fullest potential and a commitment to their overall development Ability to adhere to all Bishop Kearney policies and regulations Develops and maintains good working relationships and communications at all levels of the organization Observes safety guidelines and follows safety procedures established by Bishop Kearney and USA Hockey Self-motivated with the ability to work effectively alone and within a team environment Other duties as assigned
Required Education and Experience:
Bachelor's degree required; master's preferred Current CPR and first aid certification National Athletic Trainers Association Board of Certification (NATABOC) Certified Licensed or eligible to be licensed in New York State 1-2 years of prior experience preferred. May consider other acceptable equivalent combinations of training and experience.

Capacity to juggle emergency management with ongoing routine projects.
Language Ability:
Comfortable and capable of representing the institution in multiple contexts, both orally and in writing.
Reasoning Ability:
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
Computer Skills:
To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Microsoft Office, Google Suite, and Excel.
Certificates and Licenses :
Newly hired employees will have a background check completed Required to completed Sexual Harassment Prevention Training, Preventing Child Sexual Abuse Training and Van Safety Training. Newly hired employees will be subject to an MVR check.
AED/CPR Certification Physical Demands:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, sit, use hands, reach with hands and arms, and talk or hear. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25-50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, and peripheral vision. Noise level is moderate.
