Description:
This internship is designed for BOC Certified Athletic Trainers who are seeking a Division I/Power 4 level collegiate football opportunity to gain experience with autonomous care and coverage responsibilities to prepare for advanced clinical practice in Sports Medicine.
Duration:
11-month appointment with possible renewal for 2nd year. (Early June - Late April)
Job Summary:
As part of the Oklahoma State Center for Health Sciences, this internship will serve in the Sports Medicine Department to help develop and assist the overall healthcare of student-athletes. There will be opportunities for cross coverage in additional sports outside of the football season. This includes, but not limited to, injury prevention techniques (bracing, taping, etc.), on-field injury and acute care management, injury treatment and rehabilitation, proper documentation, coordinating care and referrals, and supervision of student-aides. It will provide the ability for professional growth in collaboration with other allied health professionals, including sports performance, nutrition, physical therapy, as well as communication skills with athletes, coaches, parents, physicians and more. Required Qualifications Master's Master's degree in athletic training, or related health field. (degree must be conferred on or before agreed upon start date) Certifications, Registrations, and/or
Licenses:
Current certification by the NATA Board of certification (BOC) Current (or eligible) for Licensure as an Athletic Trainer in the State of Oklahoma Current CPR, First Responder and AED Certification. Agree to comply and adhere to appropriate training to common requirements of University and NCAA bylaws, along with Healthcare guidelines (i.e.
OSHA, HIPAA, FERPA
). Skills, Proficiencies, and/or
Knowledge:
Strong analytical, written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills combined with the ability to interact with diverse department, University and community constituencies. Ability to manage and direct multiple personnel and tasks at one time Working knowledge of basic word processing, spreadsheet, and database function.
