Assistant/Associate Athletic Trainer - Tennessee Athletics - UTK Knoxville, TN Job Details Full-time 1 day ago Qualifications Treatment plan development Program design Clinical supervision Management Certified Athletic Trainer Electronic health records (EHR) management Athlete patient care First aid Mid-level Sports medicine Master's degree Administrative experience Preventive health (patient care) Clinical documentation Acute care Athletic Training 1 year Referral coordination Patient emergency assistance Communication skills Rehabilitation and recovery (patient care) Overseeing training AED Certification Full Job Description This position will provide and coordinate all required medical care and coverage for the assigned sport(s) including but not limited to; emergency medical planning and care, acute injury evaluation and treatment, short and long term rehabilitation program creation and implementation, physician medical referrals, injury prevention screening, and physiological recovery strategies. This position will oversee undergraduate student assistants for the assigned sport(s) and fulfill administrative duties assigned by the Asst Director(s) for Sports Medicine/East Athletic Training Room Manager(s), or Sr Assoc AD of Sports Medicine & Sports Performance. Manage all aspects of daily medical needs of the assigned sports team(s), including coverage of strength and conditioning sessions, practices, home and away competitions, and attendance at rehabilitation and treatment sessions and medical appointments of student-athletes as required. Communicate directly with coaches for assigned sports team(s) regarding all injuries and illnesses of student-athletes, as well as status of ongoing rehabilitation and treatments, medical appointments, and participation status for workouts/practices/competitions. Communicate directly with Strength and Conditioning coach(es) of assigned sport team(s) regarding all physical restrictions due to injury or illness of student-athletes. Communicate to Sr Assoc AD of Sports Medicine & Sports Performance, Asst Director(s) of Sports Medicine/East Athletic Training Room Manager(s), and Head Team Physician major medical issues of student-athletes such as Emergency Department transportation, hospitalizations, surgeries, and other significant issues. Train and supervise all Intern athletic trainers, and athletic training student assistants assigned to work with the sport team(s) program.
Administrative duties:
Duties as assigned by the East Athletic Training Room Manager(s)/Asst Director(s) of Sports Medicine and/or the Sr Associate AD of Sports Medicine & Sports Performance.Required Qualifications Education:
Master's degree in Athletic Training or other related field. NATABOC athletic training certification.Experience:
Minimum 1 year experience (experience as Graduate assistant or post-graduate Intern accepted) working as a certified athletic trainer with an NCAA program or professional sports team.Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:
Exceptional communication skills and ability to work effectively as a member of the Sports Medicine Team. Advanced level of athletic training knowledge and skills in evaluation of injuries and illnesses, treatment planning and implementation, rehabilitation program design for major time loss injuries. Knowledge of emergency medical planning and procedures. Advanced skills in first aid and life saving techniques including use of AED's and CPR. Ability to use electronic medical record keeping for documentation of medical interventions.Preferred Qualifications Experience:
Experience working as an athletic trainer directly with, or participating in collegiate, Olympic, or professional level Olympic sports preferred.Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:
Knowledge of advanced recovery and/or injury prevention screening techniques.
