Job Description
Position Summary Ascension Texas Sports & Event Medicine is seeking a highly motivated, relationship-driven, and operationally strategic Lead Athletic Trainer to serve within Liberty Hill Independent School District (LHISD) Athletics. This role functions as an embedded sports medicine professional and dedicated liaison to the Ascension Texas network. This position is intentionally designed to integrate directly into the Liberty Hill ISD athletics ecosystem with the primary purpose of improving student-athlete access, continuity of care, and navigation throughout the Ascension Texas sports medicine and orthopedic network. The Lead Athletic Trainer will serve as the frontline clinical resource for middle school athletics while functioning as the key connector between student-athletes, district administration, and Ascension Texas operational leadership. The Lead Athletic Trainer will strategically support three middle schools within Liberty Hill ISD, collaborating with secondary school staff and district leadership to ensure a unified sports medicine approach. 40 Hours per Week during the Academic Year, Summer months (June and July) may include support for orthopedic clinics, community outreach, and summer sports programming coverage Core Purpose of the Role The Lead Athletic Trainer serves as: The primary embedded sports medicine representative for Ascension Texas within LHISD Athletics. The central liaison between LHISD student-athletes and the Ascension Texas healthcare network. A facilitator of timely access to care, continuity of care, and coordinated sports medicine services. A strategic relationship manager supporting partnership growth and community engagement. A clinical resource supporting injury management and rehabilitation coordination throughout the district.
Primary Clinical Responsibilities Middle School Coverage:
Serve as the primary athletic trainer for Liberty Hill ISD middle school athletics programs across 3 campuses.
Comprehensive Services:
Provide injury evaluation, acute management, rehabilitation oversight, and practice/game coverage.
Saturday Clinics:
Participate in Saturday sports medicine injury clinic coverage as assigned by leadership.
Concussion Management:
Coordinate baseline testing, post-injury evaluation, and facilitate return-to-play protocols.
Navigation:
Actively assist families in navigating the Ascension Texas healthcare system for imaging, orthopedic specialty appointments, and follow-up care.
Communication:
Maintain proactive communication with athletic coordinators, parents, and Ascension Texas operational leadership.
Documentation:
Record injuries and treatments in accordance with district and Ascension Texas standards.
Secondary Clinical Responsibilities High School Support:
Provide operational and clinical support to LHISD high school athletic trainers during staffing shortages, tournaments, or high-volume events.
Collaboration:
Work with Ascension Texas physicians to optimize patient access.
Education:
Assist in facilitating educational presentations, webinars, and coach/parent education initiatives.
Maintain and manage middle school sports medicine inventories and medical supplies.
Budget Oversight:
Oversee middle school operational and supply budgets, including PRN staffing utilization.
PRN Coordination:
Coordinate PRN athletic trainer scheduling for athletic events in conjunction with the Athletic Training Operations Supervisor.
Analytics:
Track and manage partnership-related referral and utilization data for surgical, imaging, and specialty referrals.
Sponsorship Assets:
Work with the Director of Ascension Texas Sports & Event Medicine to ensure sponsorship assets, such as scoreboard signage and promotional materials, are maintained. Schedule & Employment Structure Primary responsibilities align with the LHISD athletics calendar (August through early June). Position expectations will not exceed 40 hours per week during the academic calendar. Summer months (June and July) may include support for orthopedic clinics, community outreach, and summer sports programming. candidates. Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Athletic Training. BOC Certified Athletic Trainer and Licensed Athletic Trainer (LAT) in the State of Texas. Current CPR/AED certification. Strong relationship management and communication skills.
