PRIMARY PURPOSE:
Plan, coordinate, and supervise all components of an athletic training program for Junior High School student athletes. Work under the advice and consent of a team physician to carry out activities in the following areas; prevention, evaluation, emergency treatment, physical reconditioning, and rehabilitation of injuries.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES
Illness/Injury Prevention:
Plans and implements a comprehensive athletic injury and illness prevention program for Junior High student athletes. Attends Junior High Practices and athletic classes on a rotational basis for Jr. High campuses assigned and be on call for all schools at all times. Establishes and maintains effective communication with students, parents, medical and paramedical personnel, coaches, and other staff. Establishes, enforces, and executes proper weather protocols. Fits injured athletes with specialized equipment and oversee its use. Prepares Junior High School athletes for games and practices by conducting evaluations and using tape, wraps, splints, braces, and other protective devices as needed. Identifies acute injuries and provide first-aide triage. Detects and resolves environmental risks to athletes. Rehabilitation/Reconditioning Plans and implements a comprehensive rehabilitation and reconditioning program for injuries and illnesses sustained by Junior High School student athletes. Determines therapeutic goals and objectives for individual Junior High School athletes. Applies therapeutic modalities and instructs athletes on proper use of exercise equipment. Evaluates and records rehabilitation progress of athletes. Develops criteria for progression and return to competition. Follows professional, ethical, and legal parameter regarding use of over-the-counter medications (OTCs) and therapeutic agents for treatment and rehabilitation of injured athletes. Holds basic rehabilitation and treatments for the Junior Highs on a rotational basis. Administration Coordinates scheduling of athletic physical examinations and screenings. Compiles, maintains, and files all reports, records, and other documents including medical, accident, and treatment records as required for all Junior High School athletes. Uses Rank One for physicals and schedules. Maintains inventory of training supplies and equipment. Requests additional supplies as needed for each Junior High School. Assists Junior High School Coaches with beginning of the year insurance paperwork, and makes sure they are aware of the protocol if an injury occurs, as well as district purchased insurance policies. Maintains daily operation of assigned training room. Sets up rotational schedule between the 2 Junior Highs assigned so all Junior High coaches, High School Athletic Trainers, and Athletic Director will be able to contact the Junior High Athletic Trainer. Assists the High School athletic trainers if no Jr. High events are scheduled in the following situations: UIL District tournaments and matches in which assistance is needed, Spring Ball and Two a days, Holidays and Play-offs, Family emergencies and sickness should occur, Elementary tournaments, Track meets, etc. Performs all duties in a safe manner to avoid injury to oneself and/or others. Performs other related duties as assigned. Be sure all students/athletes and coaches are up to date with SB-82 and
