$65,000 - $70,000 (Commensurate with Experience) Job Duties Richard Bland College (RBC) is a residential, two-year liberal arts transfer institution dedicated to launching students toward success at highly ranked colleges and universities. Often described as a hidden gem just beyond the Tri-Cities region, RBC features a stunning 750+ acre rural campus with protected wetlands, peaceful forests, and the Commonwealth's oldest and largest pecan grove-a truly unique setting to live, work, and compete. RBC has an immediate opening for a full-time Head Athletic Trainer in its Athletics Department. This position reports directly to the Associate Vice President for Student Life and Athletics and is responsible for creating a positive, healthy, and safe environment for all student-athletes within Richard Bland College's athletic programs. This position is required to abide by the rules and regulations of the State of Virginia, Richard Bland College, the National Athletic Trainers' Association (NATA), the NJCAA, and Region 10. This is a full-time, 12-month position offering some of the best benefits in the nation, provided by the State of Virginia. The Athletics Department is comprised of 11 programs with approximately 200 student-athletes. This position has little to no travel requirements and offers extremely flexible hours during the summer and winter breaks. The athletic training staff consists of a team of two full-time trainers and up to three PRN trainers who assist with game coverage. Job Responsibilities
Document all injury evaluations, treatments, and rehabilitation programs using HealthyRoster software
Design and supervise all treatment, rehabilitation, and injury prevention programs
Provide and/or schedule sports medicine coverage for all RBC home events
Work in conjunction with team physicians, physical therapists, and other healthcare providers regarding student-athlete care and rehabilitation protocols
Provide pre-game care for visiting teams
Conduct concussion baseline testing and follow established concussion policies and procedures
Facilitate educational training programs in First Aid, emergency action protocols, and concussion education for coaches, staff, and athletic personnel
Provide scheduled and walk-in care hours for student-athletes
Perform other duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree
Certification as an Athletic Trainer by the NATA Board of Certification
Licensed or eligible for licensing in the state of Virginia
CPR/AED and First Aid Certification required
Valid Driver's License
Ability to work evening and/or weekend hours
Ability to travel when needed, but extremely limited
Candidate must possess strong organizational skills, effective communication and problems solving skills, and the ability to work independently.
