Job Description

GiaCare is accepting applications for Audiologist at the Audiology and Hearing Conservation Clinic at Fort Belvoir, Virginia.
Qualifications :
Must have at least two year of continuous employment in the practice of clinical audiology that includes work with adult patients and pediatric patients from birth to 17. Experience with full pediatric age-range (birth through 17 years) within the last 3 years is required. Must have Doctoral or Master's degree in Audiology from an accredited institution. Must be competent in the use of Visual Reinforcement Audiometry, Conditioned Play Audiometric, Otoacoustic Emissions Testing, Conventional Audiometry, Acoustic Immitance, Hearing Aid Fitting with probe microphone measures, and High Frequency Audiometry. Included also is the ability to deal professionally with patients who present with inconsistent behavior, conflicting test results, and multiple handicaps that inhibit the utilization of standard audiological test procedures. Must have knowledge of advanced techniques used in the evaluation and treatment of balance, gait, and dizzy patients with acute and complex problems and associated physical, mental, emotional and other conditions. Must have advanced knowledge of TBI, PTSD and Central Auditory Processing Disorders. Must have knowledge of noise induced hearing loss and communication disorders accompanying this occupational injury and personal protective devices to prevent additional auditory injuries as well as Army Hearing Program documentation requirements in DOEHRS-HC and fitness for duty standards and required testing methodologies. Must have current BLS, (CPR), and Advance Cardiac Life Support (ACLS).
Duties :
Provide diagnosis, treatment, and case management to patients suffering from severe audiology disorders and impairments. Engages in the differential diagnosis and management of novel and obscure hearing problems, associated with functional, mixed, conductive, sensory, neural, sensorineural, central hearing loss and cognitive auditory communication for adult and pediatric patients. Provides consultation and guidance to colleagues, role model effective audiology practice skills, and teach or mentor less experienced audiologists, externs and residents. Records patient visit encounters in the Ambulatory Data Module (ADM), makes charts as directed by the facility's standard operating procedures, and annotates the appropriate Current Procedural Terminology (CPT-9) code(s) and the International Classification Diseases (ICD-10) diagnosis code for each patient encounter. Coding information shall be entered by accessing Ambulatory Data Module (ADM) through Composite Health Care System (CHCS). Information shall be entered within 3 working days of the patient encounter. Utilizes patient records, patient performance, and family interviews and counseling as they contribute essential data in the diagnostic process and appropriate patient care. Organizes clinical data systematically for effective retrieval for clinic and investigational requirements. Consult with other professionals and medical staff within FBCH, as well as other MTFs and VA facilities as necessary, in the evaluation and management of patients with complex and profound communication problems. Shall comply fully with the third party collection program administered at the MTF and shall neither be required nor authorized to collect funds under the Third Party Collection Program.
