Job Description

About Us:
Located in beautiful Bellingham, WA, Hearing Health Clinic, a division of Bellingham Ear, Nose and Throat, offers a wonderful opportunity to join our well-established clinic. For almost 25 years, Hearing Health Clinic has been providing top-notch, quality hearing health care to our community. This practice is well established with six otolaryngology physicians and two full time audiologists and is the only ENT practice in Whatcom County. We are a very efficient, busy clinic with excellent support staff.
Essential Functions:
  • Perform comprehensive audiologic evaluations, such as otoscopy, air and bone conduction testing, impedance measures on all ages (i.e., tympanometry, acoustic reflex and decay), speech reception threshold and word recognition tests, speech in noise tests, MCL and UCL tests.
  • Perform and interpret Distortion Product Otoacoustic Emission Screenings (DPOAEs) as needed or requested by ENT physicians or area physicians.
  • Interpret and report test results to determine hearing loss, type and degree, both in written and verbal formats.
  • Counsel and discuss appropriate treatment plan and recommendations with patient.
  • Show extensive knowledge and experience with hearing aids, programming, fitting, verification, troubleshooting devices, in house repairs.
  • Fit and dispense assistive devices, such as hearing aids, according to clients' needs or nature of impairment.
  • Experience with BAHA bone conduction devices and Cochlear Implants.
  • Plan and conduct treatment program for patients hearing problem, consulting with physician, as necessary.
  • Maintain patient records by recording and updating evaluations, changes, progress, and treatments.
  • Protects patients' rights by maintaining confidentiality of personal information according to the Federal and State HIPAA laws.
  • Examine and clean patients' ear canals.
  • Have excellent communication skills with patients, physicians, and staff.
  • Assists patients and support staff with claims related occupational hearing loss through the Department of Labor & Industries or other self-insured companies, including opening claims, obtaining authorizations, etc.
  • Maintains legal and accreditation compliance by adhering to federal, state, and local regulations and professional standards.
  • Provide mentorship and training to support staff and/or students.

Requirements:
A master's degree in audiology has been the standard credential; however, a clinical doctoral degree is becoming more common for new entrants and is expected to become the new standard of the profession.
