Summary The Audiology Assistant independently completes necessary audiometric testing to aid in the patient diagnosis, assessment, and treatment under the supervision of a state licensed Audiologist and supervising physician.
Position Reports To :
Practice Manager Essential Functions Independently completes necessary audiometric testing to aid in the patient diagnosis, assessment, and treatment under the supervision of a state licensed Audiologist and supervising physician. Maintains clinical supplies and educational tools. Inventories stock, orders and restocks as needed. Accounts for the ordering, shipping, receiving, and tracking of equipment as assigned. Participates in team meetings; obtains needed audiovisual equipment, completes meeting documentation as required. Organizes, labels, submits, and tracks all paperwork necessary for medical records and billing. Assists with patient scheduling and other clerical/point of service and duties as needed. Assists with departmental projects as needed. Updates own knowledge base through continuing education, attendance at in-services and reading of literature. Performing assistance during audiological evaluations. Troubleshooting hearing technology devices, recommending repairs, and drafting requests for authorization of parts and repairs. Maintaining organization and recording of hearing technology equipment. Required to maintain active Basic Life Support (CPR) certification. Performs other duties as assigned. Demonstrate Standards of Behavior and adhere to the Code of Conduct in all aspects of job performance at all times.
Qualifications Required:
High School Diploma, G.E.D., or equivalent. 1 year of experience in the medical field. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Eligible to obtain Medical Assistant Registration (application completed upon hire). Basic Life Support (CPR) certification.
Desired:
2 years of experience in the medical field, preferably with direct patient contact/interaction. Background in speech and hearing sciences. Background in military and/or occupational hearing conservation. CAOHC (Council for Accreditation in Occupational Hearing Conservation) certified. Physical/Sensory Demands O = Occasional, represents 1 to 25% or up to 30 minutes in a 2 hour workday. F = Frequent, represents 26 to 50% or up to 1 hour of a 2 hour workday. C = Continuous, represents 51% to 100% or up to 2 hours of a 2 hour workday.
