Job Description
Behavior Technician We are seeking compassionate, flexible, and motivated Behavior Technicians to support students with behavioral and/or mental health needs in a school-based setting. Under the supervision of the Program Coordinator, BCBA, Program Manager, teachers, and Program Director, Behavior Technicians provide 1:1 and group support while implementing individualized behavior intervention plans, skill acquisition programs, and academic activities. Responsibilities include supporting students throughout the school day, assisting during transitions and classroom activities, collecting behavior data, collaborating with educational and clinical staff, and maintaining a safe, structured, and supportive learning environment. Candidates must demonstrate professionalism, adaptability, strong communication skills, and a commitment to student success. This role may also include assisting students with toileting, feeding, mobility, and hygiene needs as required. Qualifications include reliable attendance, professional demeanor, ability to meet physical job demands, High Schoo Diploma and a valid California driver's license.
Position Summary:
Under the supervision of the Program Coordinator,BCBA, Program Manager, teacher, and Program Director, the Behavior Technician will assist, tutor, and instruct students who present with behavioral and/or mental health needs. The Behavior Technician will also assist with the direct implementation of skill-acquisition and behavior reduction plans developed by the Behavior Specialist.Duties and Responsibilities:
Implement individualized behavior plans, skill acquisition programs, and academic activities designed by the clinical and educational team. Provide 1:1 and group support in the classroom, during transitions, meals, recess, and other school activities. Demonstrate flexibility by supporting different classrooms as assigned. Serve as a floater when scheduled, stepping into classrooms where coverage or additional support is needed. Collaborate with classroom staff to ensure smooth transitions and consistent support for students. Maintain a positive and professional attitude when reassigned, understanding that flexibility is an essential part of meeting student and program needs. Follow specific prompting, reinforcement, and intervention strategies consistently across settings. Utilize proactive and reactive strategies to support students with challenging behaviors, including the use of de-escalation techniques as trained. Collect and accurately record behavior and skill acquisition data throughout the day using designated systems (e.g., paper) Work closely with Program Managers, BCBAs, Teachers, and other school staff to ensure consistent program implementation. Attend and participate in team meetings, staff training Communicate professionally with team members and maintain confidentiality regarding student information Support students in a safe and structured learning environment. Assist with toileting, feeding, mobility, and hygiene tasks if required by the student's IEP or care plan. Monitor and respond to students' physical and emotional needs throughout the school day. Maintain a calm and supportive presence during student escalations and participate in debriefs and incident documentation when applicable. Clean up after yourself and your students ensure the space you utilize is clean before transitioning to a new environment. As part of the requirements for the Behavior Technician role, you are expected to complete the 40-hour Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) training within ninety (90) days of your employment start dateEmployment Standards:

High School Diploma (or equivalent) Ability to: Applied Behavior Analysis Behavior Management and Social Skills Programs Concepts of child growth and development Crisis and behavior management strategies and positive behavior interventions Basic curriculum knowledge including mathematics, reading, and writing Health and safety standards including universal precautions applicable to handling bodily fluids and other hazardous materials Provide support, demonstration, and feedback to staff Deal effectively with parents, support staff, teachers, administrators, and students Maintain high standards of confidentiality and professionalism Exhibit patience and compassion Organize and manage time effectively and work with frequent interruptions Work both collaboratively and independently Understand and follow oral and written directions Respond to crisis and emergencies in a calm and effective manner Learn, explain, and apply applicable rules, regulations, policies, and proceduresPhysical Requirements:
Essential duties require, but are not limited to, the following physical abilities: Sit for extended periods of time at a desk, table, low chair, on the floor or on mats, or in classrooms of various configurations. See, read, and distinguish colors on a computer screen, educational materials, books, and other printed matter, with or without vision aids. Manual dexterity to enter data into a computer, and to perform assigned classroom tasks using both hands. Hear and understand speech at normal classroom levels and outdoors, and to hear and understand speech on the telephone. Speak in audible tones so that others may understand clearly in normal classrooms, outdoors, and on the telephone. Move quickly on uneven terrain, play yards, and school grounds. Push wheelchairs or pull wagons with students.Physical agility:
lift up to 25 pounds to shoulder height and 50 pounds to waist height; bend, stoop, sit on the floor, climb stairs, walk, and reach overhead. Mental acuity to perform the essential functions of this position in an accurate, neat, and timely fashion, to make good judgments and decisions, and to evaluate the results of decisions and judgments.Reports to:
Site Program Coordinator and Program Director To ensure the safety of all students, all staff members will be fingerprinted and TB tested. Background checks will be conducted on all school staff prior to their employment.
