Job Description

Description:
The Meriden Public School District is seeking applicants for a Behavior Technician to support students, staff, and programming.
Program Description:
Self-contained special education school Small group, structured, specialized instruction Academic and social, emotional, and behavioral support provided Behavior intervention plans with frequent data collection and analysis Work-based internship opportunities are available to students who meet program criteria This position requires an endorsement from the DMV to transport students in the school van. Candidates without a van (V) or activity (A) endorsement may be considered if they obtain such credentials within the 90 days after the hire date. Required Physical Effort Ability to sit, stand, and walk at assigned location(s) for extended periods; frequently bend/stoop, kneel, and maintain balance; climb and reach above shoulder level; push/pull, squat, and crouch as needed. Ability to lift a minimum of 25 pounds. Ability to operate a multi-passenger van safely for extended periods throughout the day to transport students. Additional hours may be required before or after the scheduled workday, depending on district needs.
Qualifications:
The Behavior Technician should have the ability to work with students with behavior challenges. Previous training in physical management and de-escalation is preferred. Associate's degree or higher degree preferred. High school diploma or equivalent. Experience working with students with special needs. Familiarity with the greater Meriden community. Must hold a driver's license with the V endorsement, or demonstrate willingness and ability to obtain the endorsement in a timely manner. Bilingual skills preferred. All immunizations and vaccinations required for employment in a medical facility must be current and documented.
Salary:
$23.87/hr
Hours:
Regularly 8:00 am to 2:00 pm, but potentially until 4:00 pm, depending on when transportation is needed.
