Location:
Student Support Services LEARN, Southeastern Connecticut's Regional Educational Service Center, invites candidates to apply for a Registered Behavior Technician opening at The Friendship School in Waterford, Connecticut for the 2026-2027 school year. General Scope of Responsibilities To provide appropriate school-based services to students enrolled in programs and schools LEARN operates or provides contractual services. Relationship within the Organization This person is directly responsible to the BCBA/BCABA and works closely with the Behavior Coordinator and Student Support Services Administration. Responsibilities Prepare instructional setting and materials for student programs. Supervise and assist students in all settings specified on their educational plan. Implement all strategies utilized in the overall curriculum plan, as based on the IEP, related to inclusion as appropriate, individual work in a school setting, including collecting and monitoring data, interpreting the data in conjunction with LEARN staff, and modifying the program as needed for each child. Collaborate on all aspects of the student's program with inclusion setting and LEARN staff when appropriate. Maintain accurate records, including data collection and session notes. Demonstrate/Model program interventions to inclusion setting staff and assist in their training as needed. Apply feedback and training on ABA job performance given by the lead BCBA or BCaBA. Establish as fully as possible a supportive relationship with the student(s) while maintaining the role as an authority figure. Assist with student toileting, feeding and any other health responsibilities. Pass competencies and utilize approved de-escalation and restraint procedures. Lift up to 50 lbs. when necessary. Utilize Program Change procedures including communication with teacher and BCBA regarding special information about individual students (as needed). Implement behavior change programs as written in all areas of student need including educational and behavioral programs. Maintain a high level of ethical behavior and confidentiality of information about students/staff. Adheres to the BACB's RBT Ethics Code. Be punctual and consistent in meeting daily time schedules throughout the school year. Work effectively and cooperatively with other staff members/families. Participate in professional development activities and demonstrate competencies related to training. Attend team and staff meetings as appropriate. Perform other duties as appropriately assigned by the Behavior Coordinator and Student Support Services Administration. Experience, Knowledge, and Training Education RBT plus one of the following: Paraprofessional certification Associate's degree + Paraprofessional certification Bachelor's degree Certification Current BACB Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) certification Ability to maintain ongoing RBT certification in compliance with BACB Certification Maintenance Requirements Experience Preferred experience working with children with autism or emotional/behavioral challenges, as well as their families Experience in Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) programs preferred Qualified applicants should apply online at https://www.applitrack.com/learn/onlineapp/ (application can be found under the Student Support Services category).
