The Behavior Therapy Technician classification provides therapy and activities to assigned students and evaluates their progress under the supervision of a Speech-Language Pathologist. The principal duties of the position are performed in a classroom environment.QUALIFICATIONS
Meet Idaho Code 08.02.02.007.10 Paraprofessional requirements, which require at least a high school diploma or general equivalency diploma (GED) and: Demonstrate through a state-approved academic assessment knowledge of and the ability to assist in instructing or preparing students to be instructed as applicable to the academic areas they are providing support in or two(2) years of study at an accredited postsecondary educational institution or obtained an associate degree or higher -level degree.Knowledge of:
Behavior modification, intervention, methods, techniques, and objectives; Child psychological development, disabilities, and disorders; Child social and emotional development; Specialized therapy; Basic educational procedures and objectives, including classroom instruction and presentation, behavior management and modification, and student-teacher relations and interactions.Ability to:
Apply behavior modification and intervention methods effectively, following established protocols; Prepare therapy, instructional, and related materials; Perform screening and assessment duties, following established protocols; Prepare and maintain files, records, logs, and therapy documentation; Meet Medicaid requirements for District reimbursement; Operate specialized testing equipment, standard office equipment, and a personal computer using programs appropriate to assigned duties; Maintain student, school, and parental confidentiality; Establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, teachers, staff members, and other District personnel.ESSENTIAL DUTIES
(or other duties assigned by the Superintendent or Board). Provides behavior modification and intervention to assigned students as directed by a supervising School Psychologist and/or Special Education Teacher, including interpreting student response to the interventions, to assist in the implementation of the student's Individual Education Plan (IEP); Assists in screening, testing, observing, and assessing students, using specified screening protocols, and formulating intervention plans and IEPs; Documents student attendance, response, and progress, creating and updating files, charts, and appropriate records; Performs record-keeping, materials preparation, clerical, filing, and related program support duties, including Medicaid billing documentation; Tracks the need for annual and other stipulated period reviews, including alerting supervisors to status changes and re-evaluations; Consult with assigned Psychologist, aides and assistants, resource and classroom teachers, and parents on student progress; Works with school staff to incorporate behavior modification activities into daily routines; May participate in school, District, or other committees, as assigned; Attends IEP team meetings, as assigned; Maintains student and District confidentiality; Performs all work duties and activities per District policies, procedures, and safety practices. Performs other duties as assigned.EVALUATION

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to discern verbal instructions, communicate effectively in person and hear sounds within the normal range of conversation; operate specialized testing and therapy equipment and standard office equipment, including a personal computer; lift or move 50 lbs. regularly, up to 75 lbs. occasionally, and physically restrain a student when necessary, and stand or sit for long periods and work in a classroom environment.
