POSITION SUMMARY
Under the direction of the Instructional Supervisor for Special Education Programs the Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) provides the classroom teacher with assistance in providing for the physical and instructional needs of special education students. The Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) is responsible for providing direct behavioral interventions to students with autism, developmental disabilities, and other behavioral needs under the supervision of a Board-Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA). The RBT works collaboratively with teachers, staff, and families to implement behavior intervention plans (BIPs) and supports students in achieving their academic, social, and behavioral goals. June 3, 2026 Detailed Description DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Implements evidence-based behavior intervention plans (BIPs) as designed by the BCBA; Provides one-on-one or small group support to students, focusing on improving specific behaviors, social skills, and academic engagement; Uses positive reinforcement strategies to encourage appropriate behaviors and skill development; Collects and records data on student behavior, progress towards goals, and the effectiveness of interventions; Maintains detailed records of sessions, including anecdotal notes, behavior data, and other relevant documentation; Assists the BCBA in analyzing data to adjust and refine behavior plans as necessary; Works closely with teachers, special education staff, and other school personnel to ensure consistent implementation of behavior strategies across settings and provides regular written and verbal updates on students' progress; Communicates regularly with the BCBA regarding student progress, challenges, and any modifications needed for behavior plans; Utilizes de-escalation techniques and crisis intervention strategies as necessary to manage challenging behaviors and to ensure student safety; Follows established protocols for handling behavioral crises, including reporting incidents to the appropriate personnel; Participates in team meetings, IEP meetings, and professional development sessions as required; and Performs other duties as assigned. Job Requirements MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills, and/or abilities required. Working knowledge and understanding of the field of child development with specific application to the area of special education and related services; Working knowledge of academic and functional instruction as defined by the school/center's population; Strong communication and leadership skills to work collaboratively with administration, staff, students, and parents; Proficient in the use of Microsoft applications (e.g. Word, Excel, Outlook, and/or PowerPoint) and Google documents; Ability to assist students with personal care/hygiene needs such as diapering, toilet training, handling clothing fasteners, bath rooming adolescents and young adults, and feeding students; Ability to physically assist students, such as lifting, transferring, and other activities required to care for students with physical disabilities; Ability to provide peer coaching on academic and behavioral strategies to support student academic achievement; Ability to collaborate with administrators, teachers, and parents to implement effective classroom management strategies; and Ability to work effectively with students, parents, colleagues, administrators, school/district staff and other members of a diverse community. EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
A high school diploma required; preferably supplemented with additional coursework and/or training in behavior intervention or special education. A minimum of two (2) years of experience working with students with behavioral challenges required. CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
Holds or is eligible for the Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) certification. SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
