Job Description
RBT-Nanny | Neurodivergent Child Support Specialist Lifetime of Love Nannies | Cary/Raleigh Area Position Overview Lifetime of Love Nannies-NC is seeking an experienced, compassionate RBT-Nanny to provide dedicated one-on-one care for a bright, high-energy boy with high-functioning autism and a pathological demand avoidance (PDA) profile. This is a long-term placement with a warm, committed family who values patience, creativity, and consistency. The ideal candidate brings RBT certification (or equivalent experience), a deep understanding of ABA principles, and a genuine passion for supporting neurodivergent children in a home environment. Key Responsibilities Implement individualized behavior intervention plans rooted in ABA principles to support the child's developmental and emotional goals Apply de-escalation techniques and, when appropriate, therapeutic holds during moments of dysregulation Provide support with activities of daily living (ADLs), including occasional toileting/personal care assistance Maintain constant, attentive supervision — child is known to bolt/elope, requiring heightened vigilance during transitions and outings Check all foods against the child's allergy list before meals or snacks Engage the child in interest-led, hands-on activities (cooking, building, crafts, outdoor exploration, robotics, Pokémon/Minecraft-themed play) Limit and monitor screen time per family guidelines (1 hour per day) Manage school pickup/drop-off and activity transportation Collect and record behavioral data, skill acquisition progress, and relevant observations to inform ongoing care Collaborate openly with parents and any multidisciplinary support team members to ensure consistency across all environments Maintain documentation in compliance with applicable privacy and care standards Requirements RBT certification strongly preferred; candidates actively pursuing certification or with equivalent ABA/behavioral therapy experience will be considered Demonstrated experience supporting children with autism, PDA profile, or other developmental disabilities Proficiency in behavior management techniques, including trauma-informed, shame-free approaches (no time-outs or punitive discipline) Comfort with elopement risk and experience implementing safety protocols in community and home settings Ability to assist with ADLs in a dignified, supportive manner Strong data collection and documentation skills Valid driver's license and reliable transportation CPR/First Aid certified (or willing to obtain) Patient, flexible, playful, and long-term minded Why This Role This is not a typical childcare position — it's an opportunity to be a meaningful, lasting part of a child's support village. The family is deeply engaged, communicative, and committed to their son's growth. They are looking for someone who will grow with them, bring expertise and heart to every interaction, and help their child build independence, confidence, and joy. This position is placed through Lifetime of Love Nannies, a concierge nanny service serving the Raleigh/Triangle area. All nannies are hired as W-2 employees with full workers' comp and liability coverage.
