What is the role of a Registered Behavior Technician (RBT)? The Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) is responsible for providing direct, evidence-based behavioral interventions to individuals with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) and other developmental disabilities under the supervision of a Board-Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA). The RBT will implement treatment plans designed to improve communication, social skills, daily living skills, and reduce challenging behaviors. Responsibilities Deliver one-on-one and group ABA therapy sessions in various settings, including homes and schools, or center-based at our Monroe location, as outlined in the treatment plan. Implement behavior intervention plans (BIPs) and skill acquisition programs under the supervision of a BCBA. Collect and record accurate data on client progress during each session. Assist in conducting preference assessments and skill assessments as directed by the BCBA. Follow the prescribed interventions to manage challenging behaviors, ensuring the safety of clients and others. Collaborate with caregivers and team members to ensure consistency and generalization of skills across environments. Attend and participate in team meetings, training sessions, and supervision sessions. Maintain client confidentiality and adhere to ethical guidelines as outlined by the Behavior Analyst Certification Board (BACB). Communicate regularly with the supervising BCBA regarding client progress and concerns. Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent (Bachelor's degree in psychology, education, or a related field preferred). Current certification as a Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) through the Behavior Analyst Certification Board (BACB) or willingness to obtain certification within 60 days of hire. Experience working with individuals with ASD or other developmental disabilities is preferred. Strong interpersonal and communication skills. Ability to follow detailed instructions and implement interventions with fidelity. Reliable transportation and willingness to travel to client locations. Preferred Skills Familiarity with ABA principles and data collection methods. Ability to adapt to various environments and client needs. Patience, compassion, and enthusiasm for working with individuals with developmental disabilities. Basic understanding of child development and behavior management techniques. Physical Requirements Ability to sit, stand, and move around for extended periods. Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds as needed. Engage in physical activities such as playing, bending, and kneeling during therapy sessions. Work Environment Sessions may occur in a variety of settings, including homes, schools, community locations, or clinics. Collaboration with families, caregivers, and interdisciplinary teams is essential for success in this role.
