Job Description
Position Summary The Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) is responsible for assessing behavioral needs, developing behavior intervention strategies, and implementing evidence-based practices to support individuals with behavioral challenges. The BCBA works closely with individuals served, families, and interdisciplinary teams to improve behavioral outcomes, develop functional skills, and enhance overall quality of life. This role includes conducting behavioral assessments, designing behavior intervention plans, supervising behavioral staff, and ensuring the effective implementation of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) principles. The BCBA also provides training and guidance to staff to ensure interventions are implemented consistently and in accordance with professional and ethical standards. Key Responsibilities Behavioral Assessment and Analysis Conduct comprehensive Functional Behavior Assessments (FBAs) to analyze the antecedents, behaviors, and consequences contributing to challenging behaviors. Collect and analyze behavioral data to identify patterns and contributing factors. Use assessment findings to develop individualized behavioral strategies. Behavior Intervention Planning Develop individualized Behavior Intervention Plans (BIPs) tailored to each individual's needs. Implement evidence-based strategies designed to reduce challenging behaviors and promote positive skill development. Ensure interventions align with best practices in Applied Behavior Analysis. Program Implementation and Oversight Monitor the implementation of behavior intervention plans to ensure consistency and effectiveness. Continuously evaluate behavioral interventions and modify plans based on data and client progress. Ensure behavioral programs align with agency standards and regulatory requirements. Supervision and Staff Training Provide supervision, guidance, and training to Registered Behavior Technicians (RBTs) and other team members. Ensure staff implement behavioral strategies accurately and ethically. Provide mentorship and supervision for individuals pursuing certification in behavior analysis when applicable. Data Collection and Analysis Establish data collection systems to monitor behavioral progress. Analyze data trends to guide clinical decision-making and improve treatment outcomes. Use data-driven approaches to evaluate intervention effectiveness. Skill Development Programming Develop and oversee skill acquisition programs addressing communication, social interaction, academic abilities, and adaptive behaviors. Implement Functional Communication Training to replace challenging behaviors with appropriate communication methods. Collaboration and Communication Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams including therapists, support staff, and families to support coordinated care. Participate in team meetings to review progress, adjust treatment plans, and discuss client outcomes. Provide clear communication and recommendations to staff and caregivers. Ethical and Professional Standards Adhere to the ethical guidelines and professional standards established by the Behavior Analyst Certification Board (BACB). Maintain professional conduct and ethical decision-making in all interactions and interventions. Participate in ongoing professional development to maintain certification and stay informed of best practices. Program Evaluation and Quality Assurance Evaluate the overall effectiveness and quality of behavior programs. Recommend improvements to ensure interventions produce meaningful outcomes for individuals served. Perform other duties as assigned. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Strong knowledge of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) principles and behavior intervention strategies. Ability to conduct behavioral assessments and develop effective treatment plans. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to collaborate effectively with interdisciplinary teams and families. Compassion, patience, and dedication to improving the well-being of individuals with behavioral challenges. Ability to adapt interventions to meet diverse individual needs and environments. Qualifications Master's or doctoral degree in Behavior Analysis, Psychology, or a related field. Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) certification from the Behavior Analyst Certification Board (BACB). Clinical experience in behavior assessment, intervention planning, and behavior modification. Additional Requirements Must cooperate with the licensee and Department of Human Services (DHS) staff during any inspection, inquiry, or investigation. Ability to maintain accurate clinical documentation and comply with regulatory standards. Background and Employment Requirements Successful completion of a criminal background check and clearance from the Department of Human Services prior to working with individuals served. Clearance through the Central Registry of Offenders Against Individuals with Developmental Disabilities. Completion of Child Abuse Registry Information (CARI) background checks. Participation in required drug screening programs including pre-employment, random, and for-cause testing.
