Position Information Recruitment/Posting Title Behavior Analyst Job Category Staff & Executive - Healthcare Department Adult Autism Services Center Overview At the Rutgers University Graduate School of Applied and Professional Psychology, we provide the nation's highest quality doctoral education and training, which develops outstanding practitioners and fosters personal leadership to advance the practice and field of professional psychology. Since the establishment of our Psychological Clinic in 1929 and the school's founding in 1974, we have become the "gold standard" in the education and training of qualified and competent direct-service psychologists. The mission of GSAPP is threefold: education, research/scholarship, and public service. Its goal is to prepare well-educated, qualified, and competent direct-service psychologists who have a special commitment to direct community involvement and to underserved populations—professionals who can integrate scientific knowledge with innovation in the delivery of psychological services to individuals, families, groups, and organizations. Professionals receiving a doctoral degree in psychology should be capable of extending psychological knowledge and exhibiting the high level of analytic skills and theoretical understanding needed to use existing and emerging psychological knowledge. The RCAAS mission includes serving as a model program for other agencies supporting adults with autism. Consequently, the RCAAS must remain state-of-the-art and cutting edge with respect to evidence-based Autism treatment. The Graduate School of Applied and Professional Psychology ( GSAPP ) faculty facilitate BACB approved graduate coursework leading to the BCBA certification. The RCAAS requires appropriately certified staff members to deliver the professional training and quality services that are needed to operate in conjunction with the academic ABA coursework offered by GSAPP . Posting Summary Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking a Behavior Analyst for the Rutgers' Graduate School of Applied and Professional Psychology Center for Adult Autism Services ( RCAAS ) in the Intensive Outpatient Clinic ( IOC ). Among the key duties of the position are the following: Supervises all support services, activities, and programs related to the education of adults with autism and their families within an assigned caseload at the RCAAS's IOC . Reports directly to the RCAAS administration. Ensures best-practice Applied Behavior Analysis procedures are maintained and applied in the education and treatment of adults with autism. Three (3) years of experience using Applied Behavior Analysis in the treatment of individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorder. Certifications/Licenses A valid driver's license would be required for this position. Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Experience training and supervising other staff in the delivery of ABA services. Advanced knowledge of Applied Behavior Analysis is required and must be evidenced by certification as a BCBA . Ability to work with individuals with severe/complex challenging behavior. Direct experience in conducting functional behavior assessments (FBAs) including functional analysis and have experience in training/supervising others in this area of practice. Experience and advanced knowledge related to the implementation of crisis management procedures. Preferred Qualifications Doctorate in Applied Behavior Analysis, Education, Special Education, Psychoo9lgy, or a related field. Experience working in specialized setting for the treatment of severe/complex challenging behavior. History of presenting/facilitating professional workshops/training. History of disseminating/publication of original scholarly work. Equipment Utilized Highly skilled with Microsoft Office Suite. Highly skilled in creating visual depictions of behavior data (i.e., graphs) using a variety of software/web-based platforms. Physical Demands and Work Environment Expected to provide direct care to adult patients in severe behavioral crisis and supervise a team of support staff in providing treatment to patients during behavior crisis. May work with patients with multiple forms of severe challenging behavior including intense aggression, self-injury, elopement, explosion (spitting out foods or liquids during treatment), or property destruction. Must have active certification in the implementation of crisis management techniques or be capable of obtaining certification in crisis management. Must be able to move, list, and carry patients and objects. Moving, lifting, or transferring of patients may involve independently lifting of up to fifty (50) pounds, as well as assisting with weights of more than one hundred (100) pounds. Requires use of abdominal and lower back muscles to provide support over time without fatigue. Requires frequent movement, use of limbs, and good manual dexterity, coordination, and stamina. May also require extended periods of standing or sitting. Must maintain current certification in the implementation of crisis management techniques. Special Conditions In accordance with NJ state law, applicants must undergo and authorize the university to conduct fingerprint, criminal history, and/or child abuse record checks with various law enforcement agencies, including, but not limited to: The Federal Bureau if Investigation, Identification Division and/or the New Jersey Division of State Police, Bureau of Identification. In accordance with state mandated requirements, a Mantoux test will be administered to the successful applicant to verify the absence of tuberculosis.
