Oxford Community Schools Behavior Intervention Specialist Keystone Learning Center 2026-27School Year Primary Function :
To enhance the support provided to students with behavioral challenges, attending the Keystone Learning Center. The Behaviorist will play a critical role in designing and implementing behavior intervention plans (BIPs), conducting functional behavior assessments (FBAs), and supporting staff in managing challenging behaviors to improve student outcomes. Qualifications â€"Education & Experience :
Bachelor's degree in Special Education, Psychology, Applied Behavior Analysis, or a related Mental Health field. Minimum of two years of professional experience in a school or clinical setting, specifically within an intensive or self-contained ASD program. Proven expertise in supporting neurodivergent learners, with a deep understanding of the unique sensory, social, and cognitive profiles of students with Autism Spectrum Disorder. Proficiency in implementing Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) systems for students with complex communication needs. Strong working knowledge of IDEA and FAPE; active participation in the IEP process, including goal development and progress monitoring within a multidisciplinary team. Commitment to Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports (PBIS) and trauma-informed care practices. Demonstrated experience conducting Functional Behavior Assessments (FBAs) and drafting/implementing robust Behavior Intervention Plans (BIPs) for high-acuity behaviors. Ability to act as a clinical liaison, coordinating continuity of care between the center, families, and outside providers. Exceptional interpersonal skills with the ability to navigate sensitive conversations with families and maintain professional synergy with a diverse instructional team. Direct Service Conduct Functional Behavior Assessments (FBAs) to identify the underlying causes of challenging behaviors. Develop and oversee the implementation of Behavior Intervention Plans (BIPs). Work directly with students in these programs to teach appropriate replacement behaviors. Train and coach staff on evidence-based behavioral strategies. Assist in crisis response and de-escalation strategies for students exhibiting severe behaviors. Collect and analyze data to monitor student progress and adjust interventions as needed. Consultation & Training Responsibilities Provide consultation services to school teams on behavioral support needs. Train all staff on behavior management strategies. Support crisis intervention and de-escalation strategies. Assist IEP teams in developing measurable behavior goals. Collaborate with mental health professionals, social workers, and school psychologists. Maintain regular and predictable in-person attendance. Support the OCS vision and mission. Other duties as assigned.Physical, Environmental, & Stress Requirements :
Ability to stand or walk for extended periods and react with agility (including running) to maintain student safety during elopement or aggressive episodes. High degree of visual acuityâ€"including peripheral vision and depth perceptionâ€"to monitor student behavior, identify environmental triggers, and ensure classroom safety. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, and depth perception. The position will require work with computers and other equipment, involving repetitive hand movement and close vision. Capacity to bend, stoop, reach, and pull as required to safely implement physical crisis intervention protocols or assist students during behavioral emergencies. Ability to lift objects or provide physical support to individuals weighing between 25 to 50 pounds, following all safety and ergonomic guidelines. Capability to produce and interpret visual supports, maintain detailed electronic data charts, and manage physical records with high attention to detail. Ability to work effectively under high-stress conditions, maintaining professional composure and safety during significant behavioral challenges that may pose physical risks. This position may require the use of protective equipment and the consistent application of agency-approved crisis intervention techniques. Reports to :Director of Special Education Programs Salary :
